Spoon Announce Telephono and Soft Effects EP Reissues as Part of “Slay on Cue” Archival Campaign

Last year, Spoon revisited their most seminal tracks with the Everything Hits at Once compilation. Now, the indie rock greats are giving their entire catalog another look with a new archival reissue campaign called “Slay On Cue” The series will see Matador Records reissuing most of Spoon’s albums on vinyl and CD for the first time in years. In particular, the band’s Telephono debut and Soft Effects EP haven’t been available in individual physical formats since they were originally released in 1996 and 1997, respectively. Those two efforts will be repressed on July 24th, with the latter available in red and blue vinyl editions with silkscreen covers limited to 500 each (pre-order are now ongoing). A reissue of 2001’s Girls Can Tell will then arrive on August 14...

PJ Harvey Announces Vinyl Reissue of 1993’s Rid of Me

PJ Harvey has announced the next installment in her year-long vinyl reissue campaign. On August 21st, she will put out her sophomore album, Rid of Me, on vinyl for the first time since its initial release in 1993. Harvey is also set to reissue its accompanying 4-Track Demos effort that same day. The follow-up to her Dry debut —  which is also due for a reissue next month — the original Rid of Me was produced by renowned studio wizard Steve Albini and boasted fan favorites like “50ft Queenie” and “Man-Size”. Compared to its predecessor, the album was known for its more raw and edgy sound. Elliott Smith’s Self-Titled Sophomore Album Gets 25th Anniversary Reissue

This July marks the 25th anniversary of Elliott Smith’s sophomore self-titled album. To celebrate the occasion, Kill Rock Stars has announced a deluxe reissue of the LP, set for release on August 28th. Official Smith family archivist Larry Crane pulled the closest possible recordings to the original Elliott Smith mix downs from scores of reels, cassettes, files, and DAT tapes to give the album a fresh remaster. The special edition comes housed in a 52-page coffee table book featuring handwritten lyrics, stories from Smith’s friends and collaborators about the era, and two dozen previously unreleased images from photographer JJ Gonson. Run the Jewels rapper El-P promised a massive reissue campaign throughout 2020, and today he’s delivered perhaps the project’s most notable release. In celebration of its 18th anniversary, the veteran rapper has made his seminal debut solo album, Fantastic Damage, available to stream on digital platforms for the very first time. ABBA’s Entire Catalog to Be Reissued on Colored Vinyl for the First Time

Mamma Mia, here we go again! This summer, ABBA will reissue their entire classic catalog on colored vinyl for the first time. All of their albums — that’s eight in total — will be neatly collected in a box set featuring replicas of their original artwork. Officially titled ABBA: The Studio Albums includes Swedish group’s 1973 debut album, Ring Ring (red vinyl), along with Waterloo from 1974 (orange vinyl). Grateful Dead Announce 50th Anniversary Reissue of Workingman’s Dead

Mark those calendars, Deadheads. This summer, the Grateful Dead will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Workingman’s Dead with a special reissue featuring a bonus live album. Pre-orders are now ongoing Due out July 10th, the reissue will be available as a CD and on vinyl, with the latter format limited to just 10,000 picture discs. Both come with a newly remastered version of the original album, but the CD edition boasts a little something extra. Fans who purchase the CD reissue will also receive a live album capturing the iconic rock group’s February 21st, 1971 concert at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York.
