Green Day have unveiled a new box set to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their fifth album, Nimrod. The three-piece collection was announced along with an unearthed track from that era, “You Irritate Me.” Nimrod 25 – 25th Anniversary Edition contains the 1997 LP along with a compilation of demos and a live recording from a headlining show at Philadelphia’s Electric Factory on November 14th, 1997, one month after the album’s release. The 14-track demo set features early takes of album cuts like “Nice Guys Finish Last” and “Walking Alone” as well as unreleased songs like “Tre Polka” and a cover of Elvis Costello’s “Alison.” Stream the set’s first offering, a demo of “You Irritate Me,” below. Queen have unearthed a previously unreleased song featuring Freddie Mercury. Entitled “Face It Alone,” the track was originally recorded during the band’s 1988 sessions for their album The Miracle. Surviving Queen members Roger Taylor and Brian May discovered the song while working on a forthcoming reissue of The Miracle. “We’d kind of forgotten about this track,” admitted Taylor, “but there it was, this little gem. It’s wonderful, a real discovery. It’s a very passionate piece.” You can stream “Face It Alone” via a newly released lyric video below. “Face It Alone” will also appear on Queen’s forthcoming archival box set, The Miracle Collector’s Edition, alongside several other unreleased recordings, demos, spoken word segments between band members, and more. The Strokes recently recorded a new album in Costa Rica with producer Rick Rubin. Rubin shared the news during an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience that went live on Wednesday (October 12th). “A few months ago, I was in Costa Rica recording a new album with The Strokes,” Rubin revealed. “We rented this house on the top of a mountain and set the band up outside. So it’s like, they’re doing a concert for the ocean on the top of a mountain. And we did that everyday — it was incredible. They didn’t want to leave, it was like the best experience.” The as-yet-unannounced album would mark the follow-up to 2020’s The New Abnormal, which was also produced by Rubin.
