Yungblud Cancels Russian Shows, Stands With Ukraine: ‘My Heart Is With You’
Yungblud is the latest music act to cancel concerts scheduled to take place in Russia after the country’s full-fledged attack on Ukraine last week. “I’m heartbroken to announce I will be cancelling my Russian shows scheduled for this summer,” the “Strawberry Lipstick” rocker shared via Twitter on Monday (Feb. 28). “Heartbroken because I know the vicious and brutal acts of the Russian regime in Ukraine over the past week do not reflect the attitudes and ideals of the beautiful people who I have met in Russia in the past!” Yungblud added a message to the Ukrainian people, writing, “My heart is with you – you’ve already shown such strength and determination, resisting this needless invasion. Green Day canceled an upcoming stadium concert in Moscow following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the band announced on Sunday (Feb. 27). “With heavy hearts, in light of current events we feel it is necessary to cancel our upcoming show in Moscow at Spartak Stadium,” explained Green Day via an Instagram Story. “We are aware that this moment is not about stadium rock shows, it’s much bigger than that. John Mayer can certainly attest to this, as he has tested positive for COVID less than two months after pulling out of a Dead & Company festival appearance due to a positive test. “Whelp. More members of the band tested positive for Covid today, and I was one of them,” Mayer wrote in a statement posted on social media. “This means we have to reschedule the next four shows, which we’ve already rescheduled and posted above. Roxy Music are reissuing their first two albums, Roxy Music and For Your Pleasure, on vinyl. These new pressings are due out on April 1st via Virgin/UMe. Originally released in 1972 and 1973, respectively, Roxy Music and For Your Pleasure are the band’s only albums to include Brian Eno, who rounded out the group of Bryan Ferry, Andy Mackay, Phil Manzanera, and Paul Thompson. Roxy Music peaked at No. 10 on the UK Albums Chart, while its follow up reached No. 4. When Foo Fighters roll into town, it’s always a special experience. Next month, Dave Grohl and Co. are due to head down under for an occasion that’ll pack extra punch. Smashing Pumpkins Announce “Rock Invasion 2” Tour Dates
The Smashing Pumpkins have announced 2022 dates for their “Rock Invasion 2 Tour.” Though the tour shares the same name as the band’s postponed 2020 trek, many of the original dates have not been rescheduled. Instead, the Pumpkins will play shows in cities such as Tucson, Oklahoma City, New Orleans, Birmingham, Greensboro, and Columbus over the course of the 18-date jaunt. They’re also scheduled to play Memphis’ Beale Street Music Festival and Welcome to Rockville in Daytona Beach, Florida.
