Foo Fighters to Play on Saturday Night Live This Weekend, Tease New Music

Foo Fighters have been announced as the musical guest for this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live (November 7th) alongside host Dave Chappelle. And by the looks of it, Dave Grohl and co. will be bringing along some new music. Over the last few days, fans have spotted Foo Fighters’ logo projected alongside the letter “X” (the Roman numeral for 10) at various locations in Los Angeles. The projections are accompanied by a short video of a coffin on fire. Similar imagery has also popped up on Spotify. All the while, Foo Fighters have been sending out bi-weekly emails reminiscing about each of their past nine studio albums (an email for their most recent LP, Concrete and Gold, arrived earlier today). Putting the clues together, it certainly seems like Foo Fighters are gearing up to announ...

Foo Fighters to Appear as Musical Guest on Saturday Night Live This Week

Last week, it was announced that Dave Chappelle would host Saturday Night Live this week, but there wasn’t a musical guest…until now. Foo Fighters will be joining Chappelle this week on SNL, the show announced on Wednesday. It was supposed to be a busy year for Dave Grohl and company. Grohl told Bill Simmons earlier this year that the band’s album was done and that he planned on releasing a documentary as well. Foo Fighters were slated to hit the road for a string of dates in support of their 25th anniversary, however, the pandemic changed those plans. Grohl reflected on the band’s anniversary in July and being Nirvana’s “fifth drummer.” Last week, the band shared a goofy spoof commercial mocking Grohl’s addiction to coffee and they also appeared at a virtual show in su...

Julian Casablancas Gifted John Mulaney His Trench Coat and Accidentally Left His Sunglasses in Them

John Mulaney returned to host Saturday Night Live on Halloween this past weekend, and he walked away with perhaps the coolest Julian Casablancas costume. Well, sort of. The Strokes served as the evening’s musical guest, and after wrapping up the episode, the frontman gifted Mulaney the same hip trench coat he wore during the band’s performance. The stand-up comedian relayed the fashion anecdote during a lengthy and super entertaining interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers that aired on Monday. He also wore the coat for the entire duration — that’s over 20 minutes! — of their chat. As Mulaney told it, it all started when he noticed Casablancas sporting a neat Knicks jacket while shooting SNL promos. “I said, ‘That’s a really cool jacket, I gotta get that jacket,’...

How John Mulaney Became SNL’s Go-To Host

John Mulaney was a writer on Saturday Night Live for four seasons. It was a respectable, successful stint, but hardly era-defining. Plenty of SNL scribes have dug in for longer, more influential, runs behind the scenes, and unlike, say, Adam McKay, Tina Fey, or Colin Jost, Mulaney never served as head writer. He was the rare writer who made a handful of on-camera showcase appearances, but his Weekend Update commentaries didn’t garner much attention at the time. Among fans, he was better-known for co-creating Update mainstay character Stefon with beloved cast member Bill Hader. So how is it, exactly, that Mulaney, who makes his living primarily as a stand-up comic, has become not just a go-to SNL host but a reliable highlight for four seasons running? Mulaney’s hosting of this week’s Hallow...

The Strokes Bring The New Abnormal to Saturday Night Live: Watch

The Strokes made their long overdue return to Saturday Night Live, serving as the musical guest for an episode hosted by comedian John Mulaney. It marked the band’s fourth time playing the late-night program, but their first appearance in nine years. Coming in support of their latest album, The New Abnormal, The Strokes performed “The Adults Are Talking” and “Bad Decisions” which interpolates Billy Idol’s “Dancing With Myself”. If you missed it, catch the replay below. The New Abnormal, The Strokes’ sixth album to date was released back in April. In his review of the album for Consequence of Sound, Tyler Clark called the Rick Rubin-produced LP “easily the freshest, most interesting album that The Strokes have released in more than a decade.” In other news, The Strokes frontman Julian Casab...

Dave Chappelle to Host Saturday Night Live’s Post-Election Episode

Dave Chappelle famously hosted Saturday Night Live’s first episode following Donald Trump’s unexpected victory in 2016. Now, the veteran comedian is set to return to Studio 8H for SNL’s first episode following the 2020 election. The 2016 episode marked Chappelle’s first time hosting SNL, and featured several sketches addressing the results of the election. Most notably, Chappelle and Chris Rock appeared in a skit spoofing an election party attended by horrified liberals. The episode earned Chappelle an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. Chappelle’s return to SNL follows news that both Netflix and HBO Max acquired non-exclusive streaming rights to Chappelle’s Show and will begin streaming episodes today, November 1st. Below, revisit the aforementioned sketc...

Adele Gives Update on Her New Album During ‘SNL’ Monologue: Watch

“There’s a couple of reasons: My album’s not finished and I’m too scared to do both. I’d rather just put on some wigs — and this is all mine, by the way — have a glass of wine, or six, and just see what happens.” Adele last commented on her upcoming album’s timeline in August when a fan asked about its status on Instagram. “I honestly have no idea,” the Grammy-winner replied at the time. Adele’s last studio album, 25, arrived in 2015. The set made music sales history, earning a milestone debut on the Billboard 200 chart, and instantly became the year’s top selling album in the U.S. in just one week. Adele Shows Off Her Comedic Chops As Host of Saturday Night Live: Watch

Adele proved herself to be more than just as a power-house singer by serving as host of this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live. To open the show, Adele used her monologue to address two questions on everyone’s mind. “My album is not yet finished,” she revealed, before going on to explain why wasn’t also musical host: “I’m too scared to be both. I’d rather put on some wigs, have a glass of wine or six and just see what happens!” Regarding her recent weight loss, Adele quipped, “I know I look really, really different since you last saw me, but, actually, because of all the COVID restrictions and the travel bans, I had to travel light and only bring half of me, and this is the half I chose.” All told, Adele appeared in six sketches over the course of the 90-minute episode. Her fir...

SNL’s Halloween Episode to Feature John Mulaney as Host, The Strokes as Musical Guest

Saturday Night Live’s Halloween episode is definitely a treat: John Mulaney will host alongside The Strokes as musical guest. Mulaney, a one-time SNL writer, will return to host the late-night sketch show for the fourth time. He most recently hosted in February 2020. As for The Strokes, it’ll mark their fourth appearance as musical guest, but first time since 2011. The Strokes to Appear as Musical Guest on SNL Next Week

After a year that started off with a bang, the Strokes ended up having their best-laid plans fizzle out due to the pandemic. They did, if you remember, release an album, the now-eerily titled The New Abnormal in April. Instead of building off the momentum of playing a Bernie Sanders rally in February and a handful of other shows in Europe and the States, Julian Casablancas and company will hit Saturday Night Live as the musical guest next Saturday on Halloween. John Mulaney will host the episode. See the announcement below. You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online. So we reimagined what a dating should be. Black Ops: Kanye West Takes Issue With Issa Rae’s Swipe At Him on SNL

Source: Neil Mockford / Getty Well, it seems like “presidential candidate” Kanye West got some skin as thin as the orange peel on the current “commander-in-chief” residing in the White House. For their latest episode, Saturday Night Live had Issa Rae as their host and during one of the sketches, dubbed “Your Voice Chicago,” she played an NAACP lawyer who was set to vote Black down the ballot with the exception of one Kanye West to whom she said “Kanye? F-him.” Seemed innocent and funny enough, but it rubbed Yeezus the wrong way. [embedded content] While many in the culture feel the same exact way about the MAGA rapper who’s running election interference on behalf of Republicans, Kanye took issue with the sketch and took to Twitter to air out his grievances a la Trump. Adele to Host Saturday Night Live

Adele will get a chance to show off her comedic chops when she hosts Saturday Night Live this coming weekend. In a surprise booking, the powerhouse pop singer has been announced as the host of SNL’s October 24th episode. Even more interesting, she won’t double as the evening’s musical guest. Instead, H.E.R. will take the stage as the evening’s musical performer. In an Instagram post announcing her impending appearance, Adele wrote, “Bloooooody hellllll I’m so excited about this!! And also absolutely terrified! My first ever hosting gig and for SNL of all things!!!! I’ve always wanted to do it as a stand alone moment, so that I could roll up my sleeves and fully throw myself into it, but the time has never been right. But if there was ever a time for any of us to jump head first into the de...
