Over the weekend, Elon Musk identified to his Twitter employee in a company email that the value of the social media platform has dropped significantly since he acquired it for $44 billion USD. The email was viewed by the New York Times, which reported that employees were sent a "new stock compensation program." Elon Musk is announcing yet another update with Twitter, this time, continuing to double down on catering the social platform towards verified accounts. In a Tweet to his followers, Musk confirms that users will now need a "verified account" in order to appear on Twitter's "For You" page. The update will begin on April 15, coming after Twitter announced it would start dismantling its "legacy" verification system.
