After days of barely any movement up or down, Bitcoin finally saw a flicker of action as traditional markets opened after the Christmas break. Unfortunately for bulls, volatility was to the downside, with BTC/USD seeing its lowest levels since Dec. 20. On equities markets, United States indexes improved after a weak first day, which nonetheless failed to leave much of an impression on BTC commentators, many of whom stuck to grim short-term price forecasts. “I can’...

HODL! Tesla hangs onto all its remaining $218M in Bitcoin in Q3

Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla has made no further changes to its remaining stash of Bitcoin (BTC) in the third quarter of 2022, despite nearly a $1 billion sell-off in the previous quarter. The company’s Q3 report released Oct. 19 shows $218 million worth of “digital assets” remains on its balance sheet, with no reported losses in the value of its holdings. Based on current prices, it’s estimated that Tesla still holds around 9,720 BTC. In Q2 earnings report, Tesla said it sold 75% of its Bitcoin during the quarter, adding $936 million in cash to its books and recording a $64 million profit from the sale. Tesla CEO Elon Musk explained at the time that the sell-off was due to liquidity concerns from the COVID-19 lockdowns in China. The sell-off during the quarter took a large chunk of...

Data challenges the DXY correlation to Bitcoin rallies and corrections ‘thesis’

Presently, there seems to be a general assumption that when the U.S. dollar value increases against other global major currencies, as measured by the DXY index, the impact on Bitcoin (BTC) is negative. Traders and influencers have been issuing alerts about this inverse correlation, and how the eventual reversal of the movement would likely push Bitcoin price higher. Analyst @CryptoBullGems recently reviewed how the DXY index looks overbought after its relative strength index (RSI) passed 78 and could be the start of a retrace for the dollar index. This is literally the only thing you need to look at: The $DXY is crazy overbought right now and due a correction. $BTC is the most oversold it ever has been on the monthly timeframe. BITCOIN AND THE DOLLAR SHARE AN INVERSE CORRELATION. $BTC will...

Elon Musk, Cathie Wood sound ‘deflation’ alarm — Is Bitcoin at risk of falling below $14K?

Bitcoin (BTC) has rebounded by 20% to almost $22,500 since Sept. 7. But bull trap risks abound in the long run as Elon Musk and Cathie Wood sound an alarm over a potential deflation crisis. Cathie Wood: “Deflation in the pipeline” The Tesla CEO tweeted over the weekend that a major Federal Reserve interest rate hike could increase the possibility of deflation. In other words, Musk suggests that the demand for goods and services will fall in the United States against rising unemployment. A major Fed rate hike risks deflation — Elon Musk (@elonmusk) September 9, 2022 Typically, rate hikes have been bad for Bitcoin this year. In context, the period of the Fed raising its benchmark rates from near zero in March 2022 to 2.25%–2.50% in August 2022 has coincided wi...

Elon Musk’s “Don’t Doubt ur Vibe” Song Featured In New Tesla Ad: Watch

When it comes to CEOs who also soundtrack their company’s commercial advertisements, Elon Musk is one of one.  In a new video posted to Tesla’s Instagram, the world’s preeminent electric vehicle maker featured “Don’t Doubt ur Vibe,” a house track produced in 2020 by Musk himself. The song soundtracks a synchronized “dance” of sorts between various forms of Tesla’s Model 3 and Model Y vehicles. The coordinated effort showcases the vehicles shuffling through various light patterns and fanning their trunk lids in succession as polychromatic lyrics illuminate the walls of the warehouse-style set. The advertisement doesn’t necessarily appear to be spotlighting any new feature releases in particular, though there is some speculatio...

$475M in Bitcoin options expire this week — Are bulls or bears poised to win?

Bitcoin (BTC) has been posting higher lows for the past eight weeks, but during this time, BTC has not been able to flip the $24,000 resistance to support on at least three different opportunities. This is precisely why the $475 million Bitcoin options expiry on Aug. 12 might be a game changer for bulls. Considering the current regulatory pressures in play, there seems to be a good enough rationale for avoiding bullish bets, especially after the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission pressed charges against a former Coinbase manager for illegal securities trading on July 21. The additional impact from the Terra (Luna) — now renamed Terra Classic (LUNC) — ecosystem imploding and subsequent crypto venture capital firm Three Arrows Capital (3AC) registering for bankruptcy continue to weigh o...
