Thirty-Year Anniversary: Commemorating Every Single Season Of The Real World

Three decades ago, seven young people — Becky Blasband, Andre Comeau, Heather B. Gardner, Julie Gentry, Norman Korpi, Eric Nies and Kevin Powell — changed reality television forever. MTV viewers were invited into their unique and brand-new world on May 21, 1992. And, in return, the cast was completely real and set the tone for more teens and twenty-somethings to tell their “true story” in years to come. In honor of The Real World turning 30, we are celebrating all the seasons where we witnessed brave young people as they “stopped being polite” and chronicled every single high and low during the filming period. The series spanned different continents, covered current events as they unfolded and saw cast members address timely social issues impacting their...

Netflix Unveils First Eight Minutes of Stranger Things Season 4: Watch

Pack your bags, because we’re heading to Hawkins, Indiana: Netflix has shared the first eight minutes of the highly-anticipated fourth season of Stranger Things today. The sneak preview arrives just ahead of its premiere next Friday. Here, we’re dialing the clock back to 1979 and taking a closer look at the inner workings of Hawkins National Laboratories, where Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) first escaped way back in the show’s pilot episode. Throughout the rooms of the lab are fleets of children with hospital gowns, shaved heads, and numbers marked on their wrists — just like Eleven when we first met her. But as Dr. Brenner (Matthew Modine) begins his routine examinations on Ten, the young test subject detects disaster unfolding in Hawkins Lab — and one familiar face appears particularly gui...

Ted Cruz Is Jealous of Pete Davidson: “How Come That Dude Gets All of These Hot Women?”

Ted Cruz, who looks like a child tried to paint a face on a bowl of mashed potatoes, does not understand the appeal of Pete Davidson, complaining on his podcast, “How come that dude gets all of these hot women?” On Friday’s episode of The Verdict with Ted Cruz, his co-host Michael Knowles read out a fan question. “‘We are seeing women like Amber Heard, Jada Pinkett Smith, Megan Markle, Kim Kardashian. Is it time we start talking about toxic femininity?’” Cruz began his answer behaving as if he’s aware that women are, in fact, people, though he wasn’t able to keep up the illusion for long. “Jada Pinkett Smith, it seems unfair to blame her for the fact that Will Smith went and took a swing at someone,” he said. “He has agency, so I’m not going to blame her for that. Amber Hear...

Time Traveling Expert Steven Moffat Answers Our Questions About The Time Traveler’s Wife

Steven Moffat’s had plenty of experience writing time travel stories, as the former head writer behind the iconic BBC sci-fi drama Doctor Who. But he’s very clear on the differences between that show and The Time Traveler’s Wife, his new adaptation of the best-selling Audrey Niffenegger novel about a man who gets constantly unstuck from time, and the woman who’s loved him her entire life, despite the complications of his condition. “Henry and Clare’s life is not an adventure story. That’s the big difference. It’s a story of people trying to have a marriage, trying to be in love, trying to get home at night, trying to grasp every day of happiness they can have while facing the irritant of time travel,” he tells Consequence. “The Doctor loves his time travel. He or she wants to run back to h...

Can The Siesta Key Crew Behave At Madisson’s Wedding?

Madisson’s famous last pre-wedding words: “Nothing’s gonna happen at a wedding, right?” While the bride-to-be had high hopes that everyone “will be on their best behavior” during the big day, the groom wasn’t so sure during tonight’s Siesta Key. “I think Juliette likes drama,” Ish said. “She’s growing, but she also has toxic relationships that she can’t break away from.” That was certainly evident at Cara’s recent pool party (you know the one, it was on a Wednesday), which was a hot topic of discussion at Madisson’s lingerie-clad bachelorette bash: Jules was convinced that Jordana and Cara had invited Sam’s flavor of the week Meghan to “upset” her. The ...

New Daredevil Series Reportedly in the Works at Disney+

A new Daredevil series may be coming to Disney+. While neither Marvel nor the House of Mouse’s streaming service have yet to make any kind of official announcement, Variety is reporting that Matt Corman and Chris Ord — best known for co-creating USA spy drama Covert Affairs — have signed on to write and executive produce the forthcoming show. The news comes on the heels of two main characters from the Netflix Daredevil show entering the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe world in recent months. Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock made a surprise cameo as Peter Parker’s “really good lawyer” in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, while Vincent D’Onofrio’s villainous Kingpin served as the shadowy big bad in Disney+’s Hawkeye last December. However, no casting has been announced as of yet, and so neithe...

Stranger Things Season 4 Gets Spoiled by Monopoly Tie-In Game

A Monopoly-themed tie-in to the hit Netflix show Stranger Things has spoiled major plot points of the upcoming Season 4. Don’t worry, we would never spoil them here, but for the time being, be particularly careful when going down the rabbit hole that is Reddit from now until the season’s May 27th premiere. (The second and final batch of Season 4 episodes — billed as “Volume 2” — will hit the streamer later this summer on July 1st.) According to The Hollywood Reporter, creators Matt and Ross Duffer had a “total meltdown” over the leak, though a user on Reddit claims they found the updated version of the long-running game at “a nationally recognized retailer” and that it was “purchased fair and square by a consumer. Nobody stole it; nobody leaked a sample.” However, the outlet also notes tha...

Shit Gets Real in Trailer for Peacock’s Queer as Folk Reboot: Watch

Peacock is rebooting Queer as Folk for the modern age, and this time around, the drama is more about real-life messes than fantastical escapades. Watch the trailer for the series, which drops June 9th, below. Creator, executive producer, writer, and director Stephen Dunn took the reins from original series creator Russell T. Davies for this iteration of Queer as Folk, which is set not in 1999 Manchester, but 2022 New Orleans — “one of the most unique queer communities in North America,” the writer said in a statement. Subsequently, the updated series is much more diverse and much more willing to tackle the nuances of LGBTQ life. To that end, the series’ trailer depicts a group of friends — Brodie (Devin Way), Mingus (Fin Argus), Ruthie (Jesse James Keitel), Shar (CG), N...

Music Supervisor Juliet Martin on Creating the Soundtrack of Conversations With Friends: “It’s a Team Effort”

In Episode 5 of Conversations With Friends, there’s a moment of quiet reconciliation between two of the central characters, Frances (Alison Oliver) and Bobbi (Sasha Lane): As two friends who seem stuck in a loop of hurting one another and acting selfishly, its a gentle, dialogue-free visual of the two women hooking their pinkies together that speaks to forgiveness. Then, “Nod” by Julianna Barwick and Nosaj Thing kicks in, and the whole moment takes flight. Juliet Martin is the mastermind behind this moment and many others on Conversations With Friends, although she’d probably dispute that description. Speaking with Consequence over the phone, she paints a portrait of how many of those needledrop moments come together. “People sometimes have a misconception that the Music Supervisor’s ...

Spider-Man Director Jon Watts to Helm Star Wars Series Inspired by 1980s Steven Spielberg

Have you ever wondered what the Goonies would make of a Gungan, or wanted to see how E.T. and Elliot would handle the Hutts? We may find out, because Jon Watts, who directed the latest Spider-Man trilogy, has been tapped to helm a new Star Wars series for Disney+, and according to Lucasfilm it’s inspired by Steven Spielberg’s “classic Amblin coming-of-age adventure films of the ’80s.” As Vanity Fair reports, Watts’ series is currently known by the code name Grammar Rodeo, which is a reference to an episode of The Simpsons in which Bart and his friends lie to their parents about attending a scholarly competition and instead go joyriding in a car. Watts co-created the project with writer Chris Ford; the pair previously worked together on the screenplay...
