Comedy Central Grabs Daria Spin-Off Jodie Starring Tracee Ellis Ross

The Daria spin-off series Jodie has been in the works for literal years now, but it looks like the episodes have finally found a home. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the adult animated TV series has officially been picked up by Comedy Central. Jodie follows the life of Jodie Landon — Daria’s friend at their fictional high school Lawndale High and the suburban town’s token Black girl thanks to her intelligence, self-awareness, and poise — as she graduates from college only to enter a confusing, tangled world. Grace Edwards of Insecure is the series creator and head writer, MTV Studios is producing, and Jodie will be voiced by Tracee Ellis Ross. According to THR, the spin-off show aims to explore “the trials and tribulations of a first job for a new generation and will satirize wo...

HBO’s Perry Mason Tweaks the Past to Build a More Exciting Future: Review

The Pitch. When I heard that Perry Mason was soon to be gracing HBO, I will have to admit, I laughed. Forgive me, Perry Mason obsessives, but my chief memory of the reruns of the Perry Mason TV show of the 1950s and 1960s (to which this series bears no resemblance) from adolescence is that my father used it on Sunday nights as a sleep aid. Usually, he conked out somewhere during the opening theme. When I stayed up to watch the show, what I saw was a collage of grays, whites, and blacks, a moving gallery of future character actors and movie stars swirling around imperious and determined courtroom lawyer Mason, played by Raymond Burr. Ultimately, there wasn’t anything terribly dramatic about any of it except for Mason’s eyebrows and the occasional blast of wobbly soundtrack. And ye...

Mark Hamill Has a Secret Cameo in The Mandalorian as a Cantina Droid

Eagle-eyed Star Wars fans love to boast that they could spot Mark Hamill anywhere thanks to the wide range of voice and acting roles he’s accumulated over the years. That’s not always true though. The Luke Skywalker actor made his coolest secret cameo yet last year that nobody noticed: he was a droid in the fifth episode of The Mandalorian. During the finale of Disney Gallery: The Mandalorian, a behind-the-scenes docuseries about the making of the smash hit Disney Plus show, it was revealed that Hamill appeared in the series as the cantina bartender in Episode 5, reports Deadline. The droid — named EV-9D9, according to creator Jon Favreau — was uncredited and Hamill masked his voice for the role. In the scene, the Mandalorian walks into the cantina and approaches the bartender to ask about...

Ribald Siesta Key Revelations: Should Juliette Have Told Alyssa That She ‘F*cked’ Her Boyfriend?

Juliette finally let go of “the secret” — aka her hookup in Nashville — and told Alyssa what happened while everyone (except the latter lady) was on a getaway in Tennessee. But was it the “right thing” for the Queen of SK to tell the truth and call the King of Sarasota out on his “bullsh*t,” or should Alyssa have learned about the tryst from her beau? The setting for the SK season premiere shocker: a charity gala (kind of). First, angel Juliette grew increasingly frustrated seeing Alyssa all lovely-dovey with her beau at the formal event and demanded the MTV cameras cease filming. A producer pleaded with Jules to calm down, but she warned she was “close” to saying what actually happened between the former couple. Alyssa departed s...

Back To Beacon Hills: Here’s Where The Characters Of Teen Wolf Left Off

Before the launch of “MTV Reunions,” which will bring together cast members from television’s most memorable shows with the purpose of raising money for charitable causes (this installment will benefit the First Responders First charity), we’re taking a look back at where we last left off with the memorable supernaturals and mortals who will be appearing on the special, along with series creator Jeff Davis. First, a nod to this final moment of Scott McCall’s pack under the...

School’s out and summer break has officially begun for Jimmy Kimmel. The late-night host announced on Thursday that he will be taking a hiatus from his show during the summer months in order to spend time with loved ones. “I’m taking the summer off to spend even more time with my family,” Kimmel revealed last night. “I’ve been doing this job for almost 18 years. How Love, Victor Helped Michael Cimino Find His Political Voice

When Michael Cimino first saw Love, Simon — Greg Berlanti’s sleeper hit from 2018 about a closeted high schooler (Nick Robinson) coming out to himself, then his classmates, by way of a grand, ferris wheel kiss — he was struck hard. He had recently graduated from high school and moved to Los Angeles from Las Vegas, where he was born and grew up, in pursuit of big-screen goals; and he found himself, like many Hollywood dreamers before him, “so broke. So, we went to see it on a Tuesday, when it was a $5 movie night,” he tells MTV News. “I literally walked out of the theater, and I was with some of my best friends, and I was like, ‘I cannot wait to be in a project like that.’” It would be a year until the emerging actor, whose résumé up to that point had been dotted by periodic TV cameos and a...

‘That Was So F*cked Up’: Here’s How Angelina Reacted After Her Jersey Shore Bridesmaids Gave That Wedding Speech

Cheers? Tonight’s Jersey Shore: Family Vacation featured the aftermath of Deena, JWOWW, and Snooki’s infamous wedding speech for Angelina, which ended with a bevy of boos from the Staten Island crowd and a “that was so f*cked up” from the bride. “I know that my husband that I just married is extremely hurt that these girls are saying this about his wife,” Angelina said. “It’s the wrong f*cking place; it’s the wrong time. You don’t do this at somebody’s wedding.” Here’s what else went down: Angelina gets pissed… The bride initially laughed off the “jokes,” but then it hit her. Though Chris encouraged Ang to not let it ruin her night, she wasn’t having it, dubbing the bridesmaids&#...

‘Sexy Time’: This Couple Just Became The Very First To Hook Up On Double Shot Season 2

The third night was “the charm” for Double Shot at Love, bringing Season 2’s very first hookup. On tonight’s episode, Brandon hit a “home run” (his explanation) with Marissa after he pivoted from saying he wanted something casual (while partying at Drai’s earlier in the day) to saying he would consider marrying her (when the group was at Chateau several hours later). “Wait, what?” is how Marissa reacted — just like us. Meanwhile, B-Lashes worried her East Coast, Beast Coast Crew member was “playing with fire.” Regardless, after getting cozy-ish in the club, Marissa tried not to resit and cave in to Brandon — but soon, they were in bed and, according to Mealissa, “Yeah.” The next morning, Hugh Hefner B...

Gender Selection: Will Catelynn And Tyler Make Sure Their Next Teen Mom OG Baby Is A Boy?

Catelynn and Tyler have always wanted a son — remember when he exclaimed, “Son of a gun!” when he saw pink confetti at Nova’s gender reveal? Or when Cate stated, “I don’t want another girl” at Vaeda’s? During tonight’s Teen Mom OG finale, Catelynn and Ty continued their ongoing discussion about having “another one” but they both wanted to explore the possibility of ensuring a little boy. “I want to see a gender selection doctor,” Cate told Tyler and his mom Kim. “I thought about making an appointment just to find out more. What is it?” The 16 and Pregnant lovebirds got details from the reproductive endocrinologist: The process takes about 10 weeks, including three weeks of birth control and then, after menstruati...
