On tonight’s episode, Bethania’s holistic pasta sauce left Chelsea feeling “funny.” “The minute that I realize that my breathing is getting tighter and my mouth is itching, I know that there’s an issue going on,” she said. “The only thing I can think of is I need to check what was in that holistic alfredo sauce bottle because I have really bad allergic reactions to eating a certain kind of nut.” Upon reading the label, the worst-case scenario dawned on Chelsea: “Oh, sh*t. I’m having an allergic reaction right now, and everyone around me is drunk in this house. I don’t think you realize how serious this is; I need someone to call 911 right now because, in a few minutes, I’m not gonna be able to breathe anymore....
The history of video game adaptations is replete with failure, Hollywood attempting to glom the thin characters, ropey storylines, and innately gamified nature of popular game franchises to the big or small screens. Some work better than others (Mortal Kombat ’95 good; Mortal Kombat ’21 bad), but few franchises have tried as often as Resident Evil. Capcom’s flagship action-horror franchise has been a staple for decades, with dozens of games under its umbrella (eh?). It’s a series with deep, convoluted mythology, with the evil Umbrella Corporation and its attendant T-viruses and G-viruses. There’s also a host of grizzled protagonists, slimy beasties, and helpless young girls your characters are forced to rescue. But adapting the material to film or TV becomes tricky...
FX has unveiled the trailer for its upcoming series The Patient starring Steve Carell and Domhnall Gleeson. The Office funnyman goes serious in the clip as Alan Strauss, a therapist tasked with analyzing the needs and psyche of a new patient named Sam, played by Domhnall Gleeson. “I’m not content,” the latter despairs in their initial session. “I…get angry. That’s the sort of thing you help people with, right?” Correct, therapy is generally for helping people work through their issues. Except things take a turn when Gleeson’s character reveals he doesn’t just have an anger problem: he’s a serial killer. One who decides to kidnap Alan and hold him hostage to get the help he needs, to be exact. Advertisement Related Video “Successful therapy requires a safe environment,” Carell intones while...
Constance Wu has returned to Twitter after a three-year mental health hiatus, revealing that the backlash to her series of “careless” tweets in 2019 led to a suicide attempt. She also announced a book called Making a Scene, which she wrote to “help people talk about the uncomfortable stuff in order to understand it, reckon with it, and open pathways to healing.” “I haven’t been on social media in almost 3 years,” Wu wrote in a note posted to Twitter. “Tbh, I’m a little scared, but I’m dipping my toe back in to say I’m here and while I was gone I wrote a book called Making a Scene. This next part is hard to talk about… but I was afraid of coming back on social media because I almost lost my life from it: 3 years ago when I made careless tweets about the renewal of my TV show, it ignited out...
Someone please bring out a plate of peace-making bruschetta… because it seems “the girls are at it again.” Angelina didn’t make it out to the crew’s El Paso family vacation during tonight’s episode, but there was still tacos beef in abundance. Although Ang thought she made “the right decision” to stay put in New Jersey, she felt the repercussions of the latest bout of drama surrounding “the speech that just won’t die keeps on giving.” “On one side of me, I’m like, maybe I could just see the roommates, talk some things through. On the other side of things, I’m like, these girls are going on Twitter, tweeting sh*t about me leaking a wedding speech when I had nothing to do with it,R...
Christopher Meloni appears in the buff — and boy, do we mean buff — in a new Peloton ad celebrating National Nude Day. “Some people think the way I work out is strange,” the Law and Order star says, lawlessly naked except for a blur protecting the identity of his little perp. The minute-long commercial shows the the 61-year-old lifting, stretching, crunching his abs, and running out in public, much to the approval of a dog, for some reason. Is this clip weird? Yes, unfathomably weird. But you’re not here to weigh the merits of a Peloton subscription, you’re here to see some assets. Take a peek below. In 2021, Meloni rejoined the Law and Orderverse, reprising his role as Detective Stabler in the SVU spinoff Organized Crime. The year before, he appeare...

The sky turns red and flames lick the top of massive pinnacle in the second teaser trailer for Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power. It’s a vision of doom, experienced by Galadriel (Morfydd Clark), though whether it’s also an early glimpse of Mount Doom remains to be seen. Not everyone seems to believe her. “You have fought long enough, Galadriel. Put up your sword,” Elrond (Robert Amayo) says in the trailer. “It is over.” “You have not seen what I have seen,” she replies. And when he counters, “I have seen my share,” she repeats herself slowly, as if biting off every word: “You have not seen what I have seen.” Advertisement Related Video Elsewhere in the trailer we get our first glimpse of Isildur (Maxim Baldry), as well as other denizens of the...
We hope you’re hungry, because FX has just greenlit a second season of their hit new series The Bear. The Jeremy Allen White-starring drama has been renewed less than a month after all eight episodes of Season 1 premiered on June 23rd, Variety points out. The Bear follows Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto (White), a young chef who — after a stint in a prestigious New York City restaurant — returns home to Chicago to run his family’s sandwich shop following his older brother’s sudden death. Carmy must process his grief as he attempts to revive the feeble Italian beef joint; thankfully, he has the help of Sydney (Ayo Edibiri), an overqualified new hire among the kitchen’s ragtag crew of delinquent employees. “The Bear has exceeded our wildest creative, critical and commercial expectations,” FX Enterta...
Eddie Munson may have been the breakout character of Stranger Things Season 4, a point proven by Netflix’s latest piece of marketing, a huge crop art installation the streaming service commissioned in his image. A new video, shot in a field “somewhere in Indiana,” shows a huge piece of crop art by artist Stan Herd depicting the beloved metalhead in all his glory. The aerial shots of the artwork are soundtracked, of course, by Metallica’s “Master of Puppets,” a fitting tribute for the character. “Eddie Munson 4 Ever,” the design reads. It leaves you wondering how far in advance Netflix commissioned the environmental piece, which was surely a lot of work, but apparently the streamer is always 10 steps ahead of the rest of us. Check out the crop art below. Actor Joseph Quinn did a lot of...
Last year, Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk spun off camp favorite American Horror Story into the anthology series American Horror Stories. Come July 21st, the spinoff returns with Installment 2, and in its freshly released trailer, ghosts, serial killers, and freaky dolls terrorize such stars as Alicia Silverstone, Bella Thorne, and Max Greenfield. Where American Horror Story took us on season-long journeys through haunted asylums, hotels, and freak shows, American Horror Stories offers a new, self-contained adventure every week. In the trailer for Installment 2, Silverstone attempts to clear a clogged bathtub drain, only to discover someone, not something, is the culprit. Meanwhile, Thorne and Greenfield play skeptics, as Greenfield denies the existence of ghosts and Thor...
The thing about the Emmy Awards is that there are so many of them. When the nominations are announced each fateful annual Tuesday in July, the nice folks who show up early to announce them (this year, J.B. Smooth and Melissa Fumero were charming and capable) only cover a fraction of what’s then posted online in a massive PDF document (this year’s is 58 pages long). Buried within this document are no shortage of delights and surprises, which may not make headlines but do warrant a little attention. So here are this year’s unexpected favorites: Shows you might have thought would go totally ignored by the TV Academy, stars who you might not have even known were working in television, and seriously overdue talent finally getting their roses.
