Yves Tumor has hit back at the Swedish House Mafia fans who booed them off the stage during a concert at Arthur Ashe Stadium in Queens, New York, on Thursday, September 11th.
In footage of the opening DJ set that later surfaced online, members of the crowd can be heard booing Tumor’s choice of industrial electronic music and then cheering when the performance ended. According to a Reddit post, Tumor at one point said, “If you turn up, I’ll suck your dick… and balls.” The experimental artist reportedly added, “You don’t gotta like it, I’m still getting paid.”
Tumor further responded to the negative reaction on their Instagram Stories. “If anyone’s curious how the show went, I just got booed offstage for playing the best set of the night by a bunch of the corniest people I’ve ever seen in my fucking life,” Tumor said in a video. “This city is truly hell on earth. I thought LA was bad. I thought Berlin was bad. I thought Paris was bad. Berlin is definitely worse.”

In subsequent posts, Tumor shared screenshots of “subhumans” spamming their comments. “That’s how much they loved it,” they wrote. “They had that much energy to search me. I truly love my stalkers.”
However, it seems like not all of the reactions were negative. One Instagram Stories post appeared to be a screenshot of text messages from Swedish House Mafia collaborator Alexander Wessely saying, “I’m so sorry, that was fucked up you killed it… me and the guys loved it.”
At the heart of this controversy is a clash between subgenres in the EDM community, as superstar DJ deadmau5 pointed out. Commenting on a post from EDM House Network, he wrote, “This entire comment section is a great litmus test of what EDM is all about right here.”
It’s pretty safe to say Yves Tumor won’t be a repeat opener for Swedish House Mafia in the future.
