Portable Granted Bail After Court Appearance
Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has been released on bail after spending several days in detention.
Portable had been arraigned before the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, on January 12, 2026, facing a nine-count criminal charge brought by the Ogun State Police Command. The allegations against him include assault, theft, and obstruction of law enforcement officers during the course of their duties.
According to the charge sheet, Portable is accused of assaulting multiple individuals, including his estranged partner Ashabi Simple, and allegedly stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300 valued at ₦12 million belonging to one Ileyemi Damilola.
He was also said to have resisted arrest and obstructed a female police officer, Inspector Ogungbe Olayemi, while she carried out her official duties.
During his first court appearance, the presiding judge denied him bail, citing the absence of the allegedly assaulted officer, and ordered that he be remanded in custody. A subsequent bail hearing was scheduled for Monday, January 19, 2026.
Following the hearing, Portable was reportedly granted bail, and footage shared online showed him and his associates celebrating the development with visible joy.
Since his release, Portable has also embraced the new moniker “Innocenti,” marking a fresh chapter after his stint in police custody.
