Audi Sport has officially unveiled the new Audi RS 5, marking the performance division’s first foray into high-performance plug-in hybrid technology. Representing the pinnacle of the A5 model series, the electrified beast arrives in both Sedan and Avant body styles, delivering a massive 470 kW (639 PS) of system output.

Technical innovation defines the new RS 5, which features a world-first quattro drivetrain equipped with Dynamic Torque Control. This electromechanical torque vectoring system at the rear transaxle recalculates optimal distribution every five milliseconds, allowing for unprecedented agility and precision. The powertrain combines a heavily revised 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 — utilizing a modified Miller cycle for increased efficiency — with a 130 kW electric motor integrated into an eight-speed tiptronic transmission.

The design is unmistakably aggressive, sitting nine centimeters wider than the standard A5 with flared fenders and 20-inch or optional 21-inch forged wheels. Signature RS details include a three-dimensional honeycomb Singleframe grille, darkened Matrix LED headlights with a checkered-flag DRL pattern, and matte oval tailpipes. Inside, the driver-centric cockpit is anchored by a slim, curved Audi MMI Panorama display featuring an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit and a 14.5-inch touch interface. To maintain performance, the 25.9 kWh battery is actively cooled to a precise 20 degrees Celsius when in “RS sport” or “RS torque rear” modes, ensuring maximum boost is always available.

The Audi RS 5 is scheduled to open for orders in Europe during the first quarter of 2026, with initial deliveries expected to commence in Summer 2026.
