The third official trailer for Nippon Sangoku (The Three Nations of the Crimson Sun), has been released, highlighting the anime’s sweeping political drama and introducing new cast members, visuals and its ending theme song, “Chikai” by Leina.

Set in a near-future Japan that has regressed into a chaotic new “Three Kingdoms” era following nuclear war and governmental collapse, the teaser previews a nation fractured into the Yamato, Seii and Kanto factions. Central to the trailer is the rise of Aoteru Misumi (voiced by Kensho Ono), a former agricultural officer who relies on his immense knowledge and sharp eloquence to reunify the warring nation. The footage hints at high-stakes political intrigue, showcasing the power dynamics within the three factions and featuring a new look at a special visual drawn by Studio Kafka, the powerhouse studio also behind the animation.

Nippon Sangoku is adapted from Ikka Matsuki’s popular manga, which has been praised for its mix of historical inspiration and near-future dystopian themes. The anime is directed by Kazuaki Terasawa at Studio Kafka, with Takahiko Abiru handling character design and chief animation direction.

Nippon Sangoku is set to premiere globally on April 5 through Amazon Prime Video. Check out the English-dubbed trailer below.
