My Mom Only Wears Black—5 J.Crew Trends to Convince Her to Wear Color

My Mom Only Wears Black—5 J.Crew Trends to Convince Her to Wear Color

My 57-year-old mother feels limited in her color choices because of her natural gray hair, so I sent her to get a color analysis to find the best colors to wear with gray hair. As it turns out, she’s a warm autumn. Ever since her discovery, her spring outfits have featured a rainbow of colors, from cerulean V-neck sweaters (not blue, not turquoise) to coral cardigans. With her newfound taste for color, we decided to shop J.Crew’s new arrivals.

J.Crew is no stranger to color. The heritage brand’s innovation in textile and color development is iconic. Yes, I’m talking about Meryl Streep’s custom J.Crew “lumpy blue sweater,” as Miranda Priestly so lovingly put it. The new arrivals are no different. Below, you’ll find five chic J.Crew color trends my mother and I are loving for this spring.

If you’re planning to participate in the tomato-red trend, J.Crew has plenty of cute items to choose from. Parisian pink makes an appearance with retro-inspired drop-wrist dresses and crisp button-downs. Lime and purple are on the list too. Bonus points if you’re styling two or more color trends together. As you may already know, unexpected color combos are a hot-ticket trend for spring 2026.

5 Chic J.Crew Color Trends to Wear in Spring 2026

Tomato Red

Move over, butter yellow. Tomato red is stealing the spotlight. A favorite of British It girl Alexa Chung, this vegetable-adjacent color trend looks best when worn with elevated basics like a white T-shirt and classic blue jeans.

Parisian Pink

Oui, oui. The Parisians love pink, and so do I. From preppy polo knits to drop-waist poplin dresses, embrace this blushing trend to your heart’s content with J.Crew.

Violet

Soft lilac and dusty mauve are a personal favorite. I’m loving these Wide-Leg Pleated Pants. They’ll add the perfect pop of color to your spring wardrobe. What’s more, my mom agrees.

Limeade

This one might not be for my fans of Carolyn Bessette Kennedy and ’90s minimalism, but I’m certain it will hit home for all my print-loving maximalists out there. Let me introduce you to limeade, an electric green who’s sole job is to energize your spring closet.

Mocha Latte

And now, one for the CBK girlies. This mocha brown is 100% something you’d find in a wealthy person’s closet. Not only does it look rich, but it also makes for the perfect base to pair with any of the J.Crew color trends above.
