Everyone in New York Said This Flat Trend Was "Dated," But Parisians Still Wear Them Everywhere

While I was in Paris last month, I took note of what everyone around me was wearing. I really think there is nothing more inspirational than seeing what the woman of the French city are wearing. Despite how cliche it is, they really do, ironically, have effortlessness down to a science. Everywhere I turned, I realized the most stylish women looked incredible while simultaneously looking like they weren’t trying hard at all.

One thing I quickly realized was that everyone seemed to be wearing red ballet flats, a trend that was wildly popular a couple years ago thanks to Lily Rose Depp‘s endorsement of the look. I thought I was tired of them until I saw the flat in an entirely new light. I immediately ran to the Repetto store to pick up a heeled pair in patent siren red leather and haven’t looked back since.

Red ballet flats are so cool because they can be worn with anything. They make a pair of loose jeans look elevated and they make a funky skirt look even funkier. They can take an outfit anywhere you want to go, which is why they’re a true wardrobe investment. Forget what the streets of New York say, French women prove there’s nothing dated about them.
