The Dallas Mavericks want Cooper Flagg‘s one-of-one debut patch autograph card badly enough to structure the pitch like a front-office trade. On Thursday, as the card officially hit packs, the franchise announced a proposed deal aimed at whoever is lucky enough to pull the Topps 1-of-1, stacking the offer with perks a normal marketplace can’t match.
The centerpiece is time. The finder would land two premium lower-level season tickets for the next 32 years, a nod to Flagg’s jersey number, alongside a signed, game-worn rookie jersey and a postgame photo with the forward. From there the package tips into full experience territory: a road trip to watch the Mavericks take on the Boston Celtics with airfare, hotel and game tickets covered, a private photo shoot with both the Rookie of the Year trophy Flagg won last season and the Larry O’Brien Trophy, and a VIP tour of the team’s practice facility with a meet-and-greet. A “private basketball experience” for up to 10 guests at American Airlines Center closes out the seven-item haul.
Dallas is playing it partly for laughs, with the fine print noting the offer is subject to a definitive written agreement and that “this is a proposed trade.” The catch is that the card itself is the kind of asset that makes a fan think twice before accepting perks over a payday.
Flagg signed the piece at the third annual Fanatics Fest last month, and he admitted the moment got to him. “I want to do my best,” he said, before advising whoever ends up with it to hold on because “it will gain value as I go through my career.” That advice tracks with the projections. Geoff Wilson, founder of Sports Cards Investor, told ESPN that he expects the card could clear the $1.11 million USD that Paul Skenes’ 1-of-1 rookie debut patch card fetched at auction last year, potentially reaching $1.5 million USD.
There’s precedent for exactly this standoff. When the Pittsburgh Pirates floated a comparable trade for the Skenes 1-of-1 in 2024, the 11-year-old collector who pulled it turned the offer down and sent the card to auction, where it set a record. With Flagg fresh off a season averaging 21 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.5 assists and a 50-point game that made him the youngest to hit the mark in league history, his rookie card is positioned to write its own off-court record.
