BTS Are Turning Their Songwriting and Korean Food Culture Into Two Books

BTS will release two officially licensed books on September 15 in partnership with Hachette Book Group’s Running Press, CAKE Corp, and BigHit Music. Announced as part of BTS Festa — the group’s annual anniversary celebration — the dual drop pairs BTS Lyrics Inside, a 184-page hardcover lyric guide covering 10 songs from across the group’s catalog, with the BTS Recipe Book, a 256-page hardcover built around 15 Korean dishes tied to their album eras and variety programming.

BTS Lyrics Inside is structured as both a keepsake and a working reference. The 184-page hardcover presents full Hangul lyrics alongside romanized lines and official English notes for each of the 10 featured tracks, but the deeper offering is the layer of member commentary sitting beneath the text — song interpretations, explanations of Korean expressions, and direct input from RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook on the meaning and personal messages behind the writing. The song selection spans a deliberate arc: “Boy With Luv,” “ON,” “Life Goes On,” “IDOL,” “FIRE,” “Magic Shop,” “We Are Bulletproof: the Eternal,” “Mikrokosmos,” “Spring Day,” and “Yet to Come” move from the “Most Beautiful Moment in Life” era through Proof, covering the period in which BTS grew from a domestic act into a genuinely global phenomenon.

The BTS Recipe Book takes a different approach to the same underlying impulse — making the group’s world legible to fans through a primary source format. The 256-page hardcover organizes 15 Korean dishes by album era, pulling recipes from appearances across Run BTS, Bon Voyage, and In the Soop, the variety programming that has long served as one of the more unguarded windows into the group’s daily life and food culture. The lineup spans kimchi fried rice, banquet noodles, scallion pancake, Korean fried chicken, simmered rice cakes, ginseng chicken soup, scorched rice crackers, carp bread, and braised beef ribs, among others. Each recipe connects to a specific moment or era rather than functioning as a standalone cooking guide, and digital codes embedded in the book unlock exclusive member video commentary tied directly to the dishes — extending the experience beyond the printed page.

The publishing partnership with Running Press and CAKE Corp is designed to extend through 2027, with additional titles beyond this initial dual release already in the pipeline. The launch follows BTS’s 2023 oral history Beyond the Story: 10-Year Record of BTS, which chronicled the group’s first decade from their 2013 debut onward. Where that book looked backward across ten years, BTS Lyrics Inside and the BTS Recipe Book function differently — less as archive, more as access, inviting ARMY into the craft and culture behind the catalog rather than narrating it from a distance.

BTS Lyrics Inside and the BTS Recipe Book both release September 15 via Running Press.
