“Girls Want Girls (feat. Lil Baby),” “Champagne Poetry,” and “Fair Trade (feat. Travis Scott)” Drake’s sixth album, Certified Lover Boy continues to break records on Apple Music, with three songs from the project beating the record for most-streamed songs in 24 hours, Apple Music tells Billboard. “Girls Want Girls (feat. Lil Baby),” “Champagne Poetry,” and “Fair Trade (feat. Travis Scott)” are the three biggest song debuts ever on the platform, surpassing Drake’s “Nonstop” from his 2018 album Scorpion. Released just after midnight eastern on Friday (Sep 3), the project has also landed at the top spot on Apple Music’s Top Albums chart in 145 countries in its first day of release, and songs from Certified Lover Boy earned the number one spot on 51 of Apple Music’s Daily Top 100 charts, and s...
Russian cybersecurity firm Kaspersky has detected more than 1,500 fraudulent entities targeting potential crypto investors and miners just in the first half of 2021. Kaspersky’s research shows that 0.60% of users from South African countries have already been targeted by malicious crypto miners. The report also suggests that the most common methods of duping unwary users involved false advertisements claiming to sell mining equipment and fake websites posing as crypto exchanges. Kaspersky’s data based on anonymized statistics revealed that 0.85% of crypto investors from Kenya and 0.71% Nigerians were targets of crypto-miner malware, while investors from Ethiopia (3.68%) and Rwanda (3.22%) faced the most number of threats in this regard. Ether (ETH) returned to $4,000 on Sept. 3 for the first time since May as a solid week of gains culminated in a major price milestone. Against month-to-date gains of $600, the pair reclaimed the historic level it had lost in the dramatic trend reversal that rocked the cryptocurrency market roughly three months ago. In so doing, Ether broke out of its three-month trading zone, with $4,025 just $350 away from all-time highs. ETH/USD 1-day candle chart (Bitstamp). Source: TradingView In terms of weekly performance, Ether took third place out of the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, behind Solana’s SOL and Polkadot’s DOT tokens. Bitcoin (BTC) also capitalized on fresh strength of its own, rallying to a critical resistance at $51,000. How long can the good ...
While the COVID-19 pandemic decimated certain industries like tourism and retail, other entirely new industries have emerged. Two years ago, the concept of a “metaverse” was virtually unknown. Today, the term is trending everywhere online, with new companies and funds entering the space every week — billions of dollars have already been poured into this industry. Just last week, Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook will become a metaverse company. Meanwhile, few “metaverse” companies have any real scale or customers, which makes it easy for onlookers to dismiss it as a trend that may flame out. We would caution against that. The last time we saw a boom like this was in crypto in the mid-2010s. People who jumped on the crypto bandwagon during those early days — think Mike Novogratz, Jose...
Bitcoin (BTC) has been struggling to break the $50,000 mark for over 10 days now. However, on Sept. 2, the premium cryptocurrency briefly surpassed the milestone, sending positive ripples across the market. Since then, the token has dropped below the mark to trade in the $49,000 range before rebounding to hit the $50,000 mark yet again on Sept. 3. As Bitcoin often behaves in a cyclical pattern, a look at the monthly trends for September could reveal patterns in the price, which in turn could be helpful to gauge the outlook for the upcoming month. Historically, September has been one of the more lackluster months for BTC. A look at the monthly price data since 2013 reveals that the token has posted positive gains in September twice in eight years — in 2015 and 2016 — with a maximum of 6%, w...
Scorpion from 2018 was the project that allowed Drake to fulfill his contractual obligations to Young Money/Cash Money, which he rapped about on “Is There More,” the final track on Side A: “Soon as this album drop I’m out of the deal.” On Certified Lover Boy‘s final track, “The Remorse,” he boasts, “And you know what I’m on, blowing past ya, owning masters,” which indeed seems to be the case for the OVO rapper. For the new album, Drake also partnered with Republic Records — which is home to major superstars like Taylor Swift, who started releasing her studio albums starting with 2019’s Lover and beyond under the UMG label following her departure from Big Machine Label Group — to distribute&nb...
Decentralized exchange aggregator 1inch has partnered with an animated series that pokes fun at startups in a Silicon Valley-like setting. In a Friday announcement, 1inch said it would be sponsoring the nonfungible token, or NFT, series Take My Muffin in addition to providing its technical expertise for the show and introducing team members to projects in the decentralized finance, or DeFi, space. The series follows the exploits of a team of creatures who attempt to get startup projects off the ground — with general wackiness and blockchain-based solutions aplenty — and is scheduled to be released in the first half of 2022. “A partnership of this kind comes as no surprise,” sai 1inch co-founder Anton Bukov. “Take My Muffin was financed by the crypto community from the very beginning. It’s ...

Now that altcoin season is upon us again, multiple tokens are witnessing illustrious price hikes every day. In a sideways market, a key skill for a trader is the ability to anticipate when an asset will break out — and when everything is green, knowing when the rallies are coming to an end becomes equally essential. This week, CELO embarked on a flash rally that generated an almost vertical line on its price chart, but then it quickly faded without ushering in a strong second wave. Aside from keeping a steady eye on candlestick charts, was there a better way for traders to know in advance when to hop off? A new DeFi initiative fuels CELO’s price spike CELO is the native asset of the Celo blockchain ecosystem, whose main goal is to introduce the convenience of decentralized finance, or DeFi...
The bullish momentum across the cryptocurrency market continued to build on Sept. 3 as a market-wide rally lifted the prices of most altcoins and boosted Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) above their respective resistance levels at $51,000 and $4,000. The Recording Academy’s Women in the Mix initiative was launched in 2019 whereby 650 music professionals pledged to consider at least two women in the selection process every time a producer or engineer is hired. The goal was to increase abysmal representation by women in studios. The tweet would seem to reference a survey, open until Sept. 20, which is part of a broader partnership between the academy, Berklee College of Music Institute for Creative Entrepreneurship and Arizona State University, that launched in March with an analysis of gender representation within the 63rd Grammy Awards. The goal of the study is to help guide diversity, equity and inclusion objectives within the Recording Academy and the industry at large. The Annenberg Inclusive Initiative’s tweet appears to...
