DAVID LEE ROTH’s Shares New Artwork Featuring References To SAMMY HAGAR

David Lee Roth has shared a brand new piece of artwork in which he makes several references to his replacement in VAN HALEN, Sammy Hagar. As he has done before, Roth styled the image in the form of a newspaper called The Daily Catastrophe and he incuded several front-page headlines that mention Hagar: “Concrete Flowers For Sam,” “Sam The Man Not Only Will Be Giving His Life For Rock And Roll, But Plans To Be Buried In His Recently Acquired Jet!” and “Red Rocker Refuses To Fly 55 In Afterlife”, the latter of which is a reference to Sammy‘s nickname and Hagar‘s hit single “I Can’t Drive 55”. Hagar replaced Roth in VAN HALEN in 1985 and recorded four studio albums with the band — “5150”, “OU812”, “...

You’re the Gods and the world’s last hope to keep Typhoid from turning the world into a dark place for him and his creatu...

To commemorate the memory of the gifted actor, Disney+ released a video tribute to King T’Challa in the form of the customary Marvel movie intro which focuses solely on Boseman’s Black Panther instead of the studio’s various heroes such as Hulk, Iron Man and Captain America. Nick Cave Responds to Censoring of Pogues’ ‘Fairytale of New York’

Nick Cave is not pleased with the BBC for censoring the Pogues’ 1987 holiday hit, “Fairytale of New York.” BBC Radio 1 started playing an alternate version of the song — with the words “f****t” and “slut” removed — last week. However, BBC Radio 2 will still play the original rendition. Meanwhile, DJs on 6 Music, another BBC station, will decide which version they want to play. “The BBC, that gatekeeper of our brittle sensibilities, forever acting in our best interests, continue to mutilate an artefact [sic] of immense cultural value and in doing so takes something from us this Christmas, impossible to measure or replace,” Cave wrote in his latest essay for The Red Hand Files. “On and on it goes, and we are all the less for it.” Cave said the song has had such an impact because “it spe...

Headhunterz Drops Massive Hardstyle Remix of Illenium’s “Paper Thin”

Illenium‘s track “Paper Thin” has received a massive remix from Headhunterz, the Dutch EDM vet and hardstyle master. As if the song wasn’t already festival-ready, Headhunterz cranks up the energy to bone-rattling levels. His hardstyle rendition is equal parts elegant and thunderous, using a nuanced approach to the punk-inspired vocals of Tom DeLonge to devastating effect. As festivals continue to bite the dust in light of a reinvigorated, relentless pandemic in recent weeks, you know Illenium is itching to drop this remix on a large stage. Released back in October 2020, “Paper Thin” solidified itself as a bona fide highlight for Illenium. After teaming up with DeLonge—who co-founded Blink-182—and his band Angels & Airwaves, Illeni...

Watch Louis Futon Make a Beat Using Sounds from NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observatory Telescope

Swooping in with a reminder that TikTok can be used for content other than cringe-worthy dance videos is Louis Futon, who took to the platform to share a spacey new beat created with sounds from NASA. After the prodigious multi-instrumentalist and electronic and jazz fusion producer discovered NASA’s official SoundCloud page, he immediately went to work. Using a galactic signification of NASA’s Chandra X-ray Observator, a space telescope launched in 1999, Futon produced a hypnotic electronic beat that could easily soundtrack the intro to a Netflix documentary about aliens. In his TikTok video, Futon pulls up the Ableton project file he used to produce the beat and deconstructs it for his fans. In addition to the telescope, he utilized sounds from an M16 X-ray and plasma wa...

When it comes to music publishing catalogs, which genres command the biggest dollars? Are all royalties created equal? And should you keep an eye on your matching rights? Buying and selling music publishing catalogs is filled with costly pitfalls. The complexity of publishing contracts, copyright law and royalty streams create pitfalls that can add unforeseen costs and hamstring the buyer or seller with unwanted terms. Billboard spoke with leading attorneys and experts to identify trouble spots and provide solutions. How should a catalog seller prepare? Deals can become “lopsided” when a seller cannot match the buyer’s institutional knowledge and ability to value a catalog, says Scott Bradford of DLA Piper: “They don’t look into the value and instead go with what the buyer is offering.” Ch...
