DJ ASHBA: ‘The GUNS N’ ROSES Gig Fit More Like A Glove Than Probably Any Other Style Of Music’

Former GUNS N’ ROSES and current SIXX:A.M. guitarist DJ Ashba, who has just released a new single, “A Christmas Storm”, spoke to Darren Paltrowitz about the inspiration for the holiday track. He said (see video below): “I was never good at learning other people’s music. I’ll be the first to admit it. I’m not that guitar player. The GUNS N’ ROSES gig fit more like a glove than probably any other style of music, just because I was such a fan of the music growing up, so Slash‘s style — that very bluesy, pentatonic style — really fit me, and I felt like I could bring something to the table and do whatever I could to at least do that justice. “But, yeah, learning other people’s songs, I’ve never actually had a big desire to...

TED NUGENT Says ‘The Election Was A Fraud,’ Falsely Claims ‘A Lot Of Dead People’ Voted

Outspoken conservative rocker Ted Nugent says that this year’s presidential election was a “fraud,” falsely insisting that “a lot of dead people” voted and claiming that a lot of “suspicious” ballots came in for President-elect Joe Biden. Nugent, an avid Donald Trump supporter, offered his opinion of this year’s election during Monday’s (November 23) episode of his Internet show “Spirit Campfire”. He said (see video below): “I’ve been absorbing, searching, reviewing, masticating and regurgitating. All the evidence I can find, the election was a fraud. There were an awful lot of dead people that voted; I don’t have the exact number, but there were a lot of dead people that voted. There were a lot of suspicio...

MAX CAVALERA Wants To Make ‘Raw’ And ‘Brutal’ New SOULFLY Album

Max Cavalera has confirmed to Ireland’s Overdrive that SOULFLY is working on material for the follow-up to 2018’s “Ritual” album. “I’m currently writing loads of stuff with Zyon [Cavalera, SOULFLY drummer and Max‘s son] three times a week,” he said. “On the way to the jam space, we are playing a lot of stuff that he [Zyon] has never heard before. Like, the other day we were driving along and I was playing C.O.C. ‘Technocracy’, which is their hardcore stuff which they don’t play anymore. I was telling Zyon to pay attention and check out the old-school stuff. [Laughs] “Having him in a band with me is such a cool situation as we get to jam so many different ideas and he will bring some new stuff to the table that I&...

Jeff Tweedy Says P. Diddy Once Mistook Him for an Usher at the Grammys

With the 2021 Grammy nominations coming today (Nov. 24), Wilco’s Jeff Tweedy told Seth Myers his humbling — if hysterical — story from a previous Grammy night. The Wilco singer revealed that P. Diddy thought he was an usher and asked the Wilco frontman for a program of the night’s events. “I was with a big group of people; all the Wilco guys, wives and girlfriends. Somehow I ended up standing outside one of the bathrooms at the Staples Center, holding everyone’s Grammy program,” Tweedy said on the Nov. 23 edition of Late Night with Seth Meyers. “And P. Diddy walked up to me, and he thought I was an usher handing out programs. He taps the programs I was holding with a cane and said, ‘give me one of those.’” His retort? ‘No, they’re mine. It didn’t escalate, thank goodness,” Tweed...

Trevor Noah to Host the 2021 Grammys

The Daily Show host Trevor Noah can add a new gig to his resume: Grammys host. On Tuesday morning, hours before the list of nominations is set to be revealed, Noah was announced as the host of the 63rd annual Grammy Awards. Alicia Keys had hosted the event for the past two years. “Despite the fact that I am extremely disappointed that the Grammys have refused to have me sing or be nominated for best pop album, I am thrilled to be hosting this auspicious event,” Noah said in a statement. “I think as a one-time Grammy nominee, I am the best person to provide a shoulder to all the amazing artists who do not win on the night because I too know the pain of not winning the award! (This is a metaphorical shoulder, I’m not trying to catch Corona). See you at the 63rd Grammys!” In a statement of hi...

Recording Academy Halts ‘Grammy Nominees’ CD Series After 26 Years

The Recording Academy has called a halt to its annual Grammy Nominees CD series. The franchise was a major hit for many years, but has faltered in recent years as CD sales have dwindled. “It ended up costing us quite a bit of money to do it and it was not selling [in big numbers anymore]” Harvey Mason Jr., the Recording Academy’s chair and interim president/CEO, told Billboard. An Academy spokesperson injected a hopeful note: “The CD is taking a year off and conversations will be had next year on how to proceed in this new music consumption world.” Fifteen volumes in the annual series, which was produced by Leslie Lewis, made the top 10 on the Billboard 200. Two volumes—in 2013 and 2014—climbed as high as No. 2. {“nid”:”5885267″,”type”:”post”...

John Cleese Defends J.K. Rowling with His Own Transphobic Tweetstorm

John Cleese has some donkey-brained takes on transgender people.
