Peep Pics Of Kyrie Irving’s New Nike Kyrie 7 Signature Sneaker

Source: Nike / NIke Though the Brooklyn Net’s newest superstar point guard, Kyrie Irving, didn’t return to the bubble to play out the remainder of the COVID-19 NBA season, Nike is still lacing his signature line with the kind of heat that you’d find in Miami. Source: Nike / NIke Yesterday Nike unveiled their upcoming Kyrie 7 which features some dope composite mesh upper for comfort and flexibility and a “data-informed traction” grip on the bottom sole for the ballers who like to cut through the court like Uncle Drew during the playoffs. The designers took into account Kyrie’s playing style when developing his latest silhouette and best believe anyone who hoops in these will appreciate the thought process. In the Kyrie 7, computational design processes turn real-time game data into a 360-de...

METALLICA’s JAMES HETFIELD Talks About ‘Metallica Scholars’ Program (Video)

In the clip below, METALLICA frontman James Hetfield about the motivation behind the Metallica Scholars program. The Metallica Scholars initiative was created in 2019 through a partnership between METALLICA‘s All Within My Hands foundation (AWMH) and the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC), a Washington, D.C. based organization representing the country’s more than 1,000 community colleges. Hetfield states: “All Within My Hands was formed out of a want and a need to help, to give back. There were some things that were somewhat obvious that we could all agree upon, like natural disasters or food — something like that. But then beyond that, how do we get into education with the trades and skills? And getting in to find the passion was super important to us. And...

HAMMERFALL’s OSCAR DRONJAK: ‘You Can’t Have A Metal Concert With A Seated Audience’

Guitarist Oscar Dronjak of Swedish metallers HAMMERFALL spoke to Barbara Caserta of Italy’s Linea Rock about what the touring circuit might look like post pandemic. He said (see video below): “We’re hoping that things will get back to normal soon enough. I don’t know what it’ll take — probably a vaccine, I guess — to make sure that the virus don’t spread at the concerts. “It’s still strict rules and regulations in Sweden as well, or live music and sporting events and stuff like that. They just today, actually, raised the level from 50 people to 300, but that is seated audience only, for sporting events as well as music, and also at least one meter or whatever distancing between the seats — unless you went there with your wife or something, th...

Return To Hemmersmoor – THEM

RATING: 8.5/10 Originally formed as a straightforward KING DIAMOND tribute band, THEM have long since outgrown their initial masterplan and evolved into the one of the most entertaining heavy metal bands on the planet. If you missed the international sextet’s first two albums, 2016’s “Sweet Hollow” and 2018’s “Manor Of The Se7en Gables”, you missed out on some of the most uproarious horror-themed metal this side of, well, you know who. And while vocalist Troy Norr is undoubtedly capable of doing a fine impression of the aforementioned Dane, he has brought more than enough of his own, warped personality to bear on the band’s works to date. The truth is that “Return To Hemmersmoor” deserves to reach an audience far beyond the rather...

Butch Vig Says Nevermind ‘Would Not Have the Same Cultural Impact’ Today

Nirvana’s Nevermind continues to endure nearly 30 years, but would its legend be what it is if it was released today? Butch Vig isn’t so sure. The album’s producer observed that if Nirvana’s culture-shifting album was released now, “despite being a great record, it would not have the same cultural impact” today. In an interview with NME, Vig, who is also the longtime drummer for Garbage, said that the iconic Nirvana record, if released today, would have a different trajectory. “I think it would be tough to repeat that zeitgeist moment. It was perfect timing coming out when there was a shift in music and it felt like a revolution. I can see that happening again, but not in the same way.” The producer/musician continued: “I saw something similar with Billie Eilish. I’m fr...

American Music Awards Adds Three Latin Categories, Matching It With Soul/R&B and Rap/Hip-Hop

The expansion of coverage for Latin music in the AMAs is a clear signal of the genre’s increasing popularity and crossover appeal. The AMAs are a ratings-driven show. If they do something, it’s because they think it’s what the audience wants and demands. A quick history lesson: Dick Clark created the AMAs in 1973 as a more viewer-friendly, populist answer to the Grammy Awards. Clark, a canny showman, seemed to be saying, “Let the Grammys honor classical and jazz and all the other specialized music forms. We’ll zero in on the genres that most people care about.” For the first five years of the show, 1974-78, there were just 15 awards — five each in the three genres with the broadest appeal at the time — pop/rock, soul/R&B and country. In 1979, disco was red-hot. The show res...

Five Burning Questions: Gabby Barrett Climbs to No. 6 on the Hot 100 With Charlie Puth-Assisted ‘I Hope’

1. “I Hope” hits a new peak of No. 6 on the Hot 100 this week in its 43rd week on the chart — dating back to early January. On a scale from 1-10, how surprised are you that it’s still climbing this deep into its chart run?  Katie Atkinson: I think I’m a 2. This song hit me like a ton of bricks when it came out — thanks to that seemingly sweet first verse leading into a spiteful wrecking ball of chorus — so I knew it had a strong chance to make a big impact both in the world of country and beyond. The only reason I’m a 2 instead of a 1 is that I might not have predicted that it would climb all the way to the Hot 100 top 10. That’s massive — especially for an American Idol alum in the year 2020. Jason Lipshutz:&n...
