Yesterday marked the second Record Store Day drop, which included one of the year’s most anticipated releases: A Rooster Says, Brandi Carlile’s 12″ LP that includes versions of “Black Hole Sun” and “Searching With My Good Eye Open” recorded with Soundgarden’s surviving members. “Black Hole Sun” was chosen after Carlile performed it with guitarist Kim Thayil, drummer Matt Cameron, and bassist Ben Shepherd, along with Peter Frampton, for the Chris Cornell tribute I Am the Highway in January 2019; however, the Seattle-bred singer-songwriter picked the second song herself, and Cameron and Thayil couldn’t be happier. “That was Brandi’s choice and it was a good one,” Cameron told Rolling Stone in a recent interview. “‘Searching With My Good Eye Closed’ is one of Chris’ g...
It’s never a dull day for the BTS Army. Ahead of their week-long residency on The Tonight Show, the K-pop superstars have announced the release details for their next album. Entitled BE (Deluxe Edition), it’s due out on November 20th. This new project offers an even richer musical spectrum experience as well as the most ‘BTS-ish’ music ye...
Mark Stone (far left) with Alex and Eddie Van Halen, via Van Halen: The Early Years documentary Mark Stone, the original bassist for Van Halen, has died after a battle with cancer. His death was confirmed by his brother Brad, who posted the sad news via Instagram, and by Van Halen News Desk, which reported that Stone had recently been in hospice care. While Stone was a founding member of Van Halen, his tenure in the band was short-lived. He was a member of the band from their formation in 1972, alongside brothers Eddie and Alex Van Halen, and eventually David Lee Roth. Initially, the group called itself Genesis, but changed that to Mammoth upon learning that there was another band named Genesis. In 1974, the band changed its name to Van Halen, but also parted ways with Stone that same year...
Dwayne Johnson has endorsed Joe Biden as the people’s champ for 2020. “As a political independent and centrist for many years, I’ve voted for Democrats in the past and as well as Republicans. In this critical election, I believe Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are the best to lead our country, and as my first ever (public) Presidential endorsement, I proudly endorse them for the presidential office of our United States,” Johnson announced in a post to social media on Sunday. “Progress takes courage, humanity, empathy, strength, grit, kindness and respect,” Johnson added, noting the attributes he thinks a president should embody. “Being KIND & RESPECTFUL to one another will always matter.” Johnson also shared video of a discussion he had with Biden and Harris, during which he asked the cand...

Source: WENN/Avalon / WENN Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has a favorite in the Presidential race. The famed actor and WWE legend has endorsed Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for President and Vice President of the United States. Johnson, whose Daddy (OG wrestler Rocky “Soulman” Johnson who passed earlier this year) we must point out was a Black man, has never endorsed a presidential candidate before. As a registered independent with “centrist ideologies” as he puts it himself, Johnson went a step further and actually had a conversation with Biden and Harris. Citing his father’s teaching that respect is earned, the Rock’s first question to Biden and Harris was how they intended to earn the respect of the American people. “By doing what we say we’re going to do,” responded Biden. “By keeping our wor...
FEAR FACTORY singer Burton C. Bell has blasted people who are defiantly skeptical of mask wearing, saying they are delaying a return to normalcy for the rest of us. “I hope that this pandemic nonsense gets finished quickly, and I hope everyone does the smart thing and helps everyone so everyone can get back to work properly,” Bell told The Underground Australia in a new interview (hear audio below). “Because these fools who are going around not trying to stay safe, musicians are the ones they’ll hurt the most. The music industry was the first industry closed, and it’s gonna be the last one open.” He continued: “It’s not hard to wear a mask — easier than putting on shoes.” During the same chat, Bell also confirmed that there are plans fo...
In a recent interview with Birmingham Mail, JUDAS PRIEST frontman Rob Halford spoke about his involvement with the LGBTQ community. Halford came out as a homosexual during an MTV interview in 1998 and has long since been an outspoken advocate for gay rights. Having been born in 1951, Halford said he used to read the papers and note that people were being sent to prison for being gay. “I still think that’s a struggle for a lot of people, regardless of the times that we live in,” he said. “Particularly for me as a young guy I was figuring things out. It was difficult. I read the papers like everybody else and it was about this gay man and that gay man being thrown into jail just because they were a gay guy. That’s not the best terms to try to understand yourself...
Greg Graffin of BAD RELIGION spoke to “The Five Count” radio show about what keeps him inspired to make new music four decades into the veteran punk band’s career. “That’s the thing that’s unique about BAD RELIGION, is our long catalog, our extensive catalog of songs and albums,” he said (hear audio below). “Even though a lot of bands are 40 years old, most of them are playing songs or hits from 30 years ago, because they don’t put out new music. “When BAD RELIGION decides to put out new music, it’s not just because the world is in turmoil; I don’t think that’s very inspiring as a songwriter,” he explained. “We write music that we hope speaks to some kind of a sentiment of optimism, even though our mu...
METAL CHURCH‘s Kurdt Vanderhoof will release his new solo album, “Brainchild”, in early 2021. In a new interview with Pete Pardo of Sea Of Tranquility, the guitarist described the LP, which was completed two years ago, as “a personal challenge — just something I wanted to do. It’s just ’70s old-school guitar riff rock. “One of the best albums in the world was MONTROSE‘s first record, so I was, like, ‘I just wanna see if I can do this.’ So I did everything — drums, everything, vocals, everything,” he explained. “Not ’cause I think I can, but just ’cause I wanted to do it — I wanted to try it. And it came out okay. I can listen to it, and I don’t have to hit ‘eject’ right away. Musically, it...
