KATAKLYSM guitarist Jean-François Dagenais has tested positive for COVID-19. The Canadian-born musician, who has lived in Dallas, Texas, for the past decade, exhibited “severe symptoms” of the novel coronavirus before it was confirmed he had COVID-19. KATAKLYSM confirmed Dagenais‘s diagnosis in a social media post earlier today. The Montreal-based band wrote: “We regret to inform everyone that our guitarist and founding member J-F Dagenais has tested positive for COVID 19 after experiencing severe symptoms, we will give you an update on his condition during the next few days. #Kataklysm #Jfdagenais” The Dallas County Health Department has reported 68,572 cases of the virus since testing began in March. Source: Warner Bros. Pictures / HBO Max DC Comics’ future is looking real bright based on everything that was shown during today’s virtual Comic-Con-like event, the DC FanDome. Here are the most significant announcements. DC fans didn’t mind being stuck in the house on a Saturday due to the all of the epic reveals that went down during the DC FanDome. The event will span over two days, August 22, and September 12. Today, all of the virtual action took place in the Hall of Heroes, and, of course, the ladies kicked things off first. Wonder Woman: 1984 Source: Warner Bros. / Warner Bros. The FanDome kicked things off with Wonder Woman: 1984 panel that featured the film’s director Patty Jenkins, Wonder Woman herself, the lovely Gal Gadot, her on-screen love interest Chris Pine whose character,...
Spin’s “Kat Calls” is live now with a special interview and Q&A session featuring two of dance music’s biggest contributors, Carl Cox and deadmau5. Right now, “Kat Calls” host Kat Bein has the two dance music tastemakers on the line for a virtual discussion on music, the industry at large, and more. It’s a landmark episode for the burgeoning dance music-focused talk show, which began in April of this year. Carl Cox and deadmau5’s worlds recently collided when Cox was approached with an opportunity to remix deadmau5 and The Neptunes‘ collaboration “Pomegranate.” The tenured producer outfitted the twangy nu-disco original with an instrument stack fit for the club, dialing up the tempo to 128 BPM and add...
James Gunn has shared the first teaser trailer for The Suicide Squad and revealed new characters from the star-studded cast. The unveiling took place during DC’s virtual FanDome on Saturday. Gunn himself hosted a panel, and with a bit of pomp and ceremony he announced the villainous roles played by previously-announced actors. The big news is that Idris Elba will be inhabiting Bloodsport, a Lex Luthor associate. During a Q&A/trivia section, it was also revealed that Bloodsport in the film is spending time in jail for shooting Superman. This is the biggest plot drop from the panel, and it’s actually pulled right from the comic books. As for the rest of the Squad, a large part of it was already known, with Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) Captain Boomerang (...
Fans begged, pleaded, and campaigned for this, and now it’s finally here: Zack Snyder has shared the first full trailer for the Justice League Director’s Cut at Saturday’s DC Fandome virtual event. From the jump, the preview makes it clear this is very different from 2018’s Joss Whedon-re-worked theatrical Justice League. It opens with a shot of the DC Extended Universe’s biggest baddie, Darkseid, played by Ray Porter but ultimately excised from the original cut of the film. There’s also new glimpses of the film’s primary antagonist, Steppenwolf (Ciarán Hinds), whose look has been updated as more metallic and with a less humanoid face, like he was seen in the infamous Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice deleted scene. What really stands out here is how much more fleshed out the non-Batman-a...
This review is part of our Fantasia Festival 2020 coverage. The Pitch: Jack (Peter Vack) is a lonely boy in the big city. He lives in a rundown apartment—the only kind anyone can afford in New York City–where his windows are duct-taped over and his day-to-day involves either bowls of Maruchan ramen or online poker games. But he also engages in BDSM scenes with a number of cam girls, and one in particular has caught his eye. Enter Scarlet (Julia Fox), who dominates Jack from afar, making him a human ashtray as smoke billows out from her big beautiful lips. As time ticks away and more and more money is dropped, Jack and Julia begin to connect on a deeper level, a connection that sets both parties up for twists that audiences will never see coming. I’ll Always Love You New York: With PVT CHAT...
Warner Bros. closed out DC Fandome on Saturday night with their highly anticipated panel for Matt Reeves’ The Batman. As expected, the event saw our most comprehensive look at the forthcoming re-imagining, which stars Robert Pattinson as The Dark Knight. Gorgeously soundtracked to Nirvana’s dour “Something in the Way”, the film’s first trailer reveals a Gotham City awash in the kind of realism that once fueled Christopher Nolan’s universe. Yet unlike his trilogy, Reeves’ vision carries a more dystopian, punk rock edge that feels like a DIY deconstruction of Frank Miller’s Year One (though, according to Reeves, the story actually takes place in the second year of Bruce Wayne’s life as Batman). Story-wise, it appears there’s a creepy murder mystery that’s sending Jeffrey Wright’s Commis...
Chance the Rapper is showing his support for Megan Thee Stallion after her recent claim that Tory Lanez shot her after a Hollywood Hills party in July. “I hope Meg really gets justice for what Tory did to her,” Chance tweeted on Saturday (Aug. 22). “And that we can all learn from this, how near and constant and serious, the threat of lethal violence and abuse is for every Black woman.” Earlier in the week, Meg took to Instagram Live to set the record straight on who was responsible for pulling the trigger and shooting her in the feet on after the Los Angeles party on July 12. “Yes … Tory shot me. You shot me and you got your publicist and your people going to these blogs lying,” she said during an Instagram Live on Aug. 20. “Stop lying. Why lie? I don’t unders...

He has a new album, he’s back on ‘Idol’ and now he’s teaming up with an iconic underwear brand. Luke Bryan got a little nervous when his wife, Caroline, opened a package of underwear Jockey sent him. The country couple, newly announced as brand ambassadors, unboxed some Jockey goodies for a comical campaign spot — and even though Bryan insisted he’s “been working out,” he wasn’t so sure about the thong. “Here’s your new go-to,” Caroline teased her husband, holding up a garment that would leave little to the imagination. “This is a prank, is what that is,” he playfully shot back in the clip, which was filmed in Nashville. (For the record, Bryan was all smiles about wearing the boxer briefs.) On Instagram, where the pair...

SCORPIONS drummer Mikkey Dee has posted a short video update from Peppermint Park Studios in Hannover, Germany, where he and his bandmates are rehearsing and doing pre-production for their upcoming studio album. Tentatively due in 2021, the disc will mark the German hard rock legends’ first release since 2017’s “Born To Touch Your Feelings – Best Of Rock Ballads”, which was an anthology of SCORPIONS‘ new and classic material. SCORPIONS originally intended to record the new album in Los Angeles with producer Greg Fidelman, whose previous credits include SLIPKNOT and METALLICA. However, because of the pandemic, most of the work so far had been done remotely, with Fidelman taking part via Zoom. In the video, which can be seen below, singer Klaus Meine says ...
