NICKELBACK bassist Mike Kroeger has once again clarified his comments about his desire to make a super-heavy album with his band one day. Back in January 2019, Kroeger told Australia’s Wall Of Sound that metal is “what I listen to without fail,” adding that “if we could actually sink in and do a metal album, all four of us would love it. I know that we’re all — on differing scales — metalheads at our core. We all know everything about the ‘Big Four’ — METALLICA, MEGADETH, ANTHRAX and SLAYER. I would do a SLAYER cover album if I could. That’s where my heart lies. There are just never enough hours in the day to do everything, but let’s just say I wouldn’t count it out.” Kroeger later offered a different take on the possibility...
In a new interview with Radio Forrest, STYX‘s James “JY” Young was asked when fans can expect to see the band’s new studio album. The upcoming effort will be the follow-up to “The Mission”, which was released in June 2017. That disc marked STYX‘s first new LP in 14 years. It was recorded at Blackbird Studios in Nashville, co-produced and co-written with Will Evankovich, a longtime collaborator of guitarist/vocalist Tommy Shaw‘s in the SHAW/BLADES band and who also plays with THE GUESS WHO. Young said (hear audio below: “I think we’re gonna hold this record until we can go back on tour. That’s the current plan. Because we like to have everything kind of get launched at once. It’s easier to make people aware of it if it&...
Stevie Nicks has penned a poignant tribute to her “hero” Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The longtime Supreme Court Justice passed away Friday night (Sept. 18th) due to complications from pancreatic cancer. “She fought for me, and all women,” Nicks wrote in a statement posted to social media. “I I feel today very much like I felt on the night my own mother died. I feel like someone punched me in the stomach. My tears have not stopped since a friend tip toed into my room and said ‘Stevie, Ruth died.’ (No need for the last name…)” “I so believed that she would live for a few more years,” Nicks continued. “I wanted to meet her. I wanted to hold her hand and give her a huge hug and thank her for all she had done for women, and for all she would continue to do.” Nicks expressed regret that she never ...
Country artist Tyler Childers has dropped a surprise new album titled Long Violent History. Stream it below through Apple Music and Spotify. Childers announced the follow-up to 2019’s Country Squire in a six-minute video essay on YouTube. The first eight tracks are traditional fiddle instrumentals “intended to create a sonic soundscape for the listener, to set the tone to reflect on the last track, which is my own observational piece on the times we are in.” That final statement, “Long Violent History”, is an explicit appeal to rural white voters on behalf of the Black Lives Matter movement. Childers asks his listeners how they would behave if their friends and families were treated the way that Black Americans have been treated. He sings, “How many boys could they haul off this mount...
Danny Masterson, former star of That ’70s Show, appeared in court Friday on charges of raping three women. According to the BBC, while the actor did not enter a plea, his lawyer, Tom Mesereau, dismissed the charges against him as “politically motivated.” The alleged assaults took place between 2001 and 2003 and involved three women between the ages of 23 and 28. If convicted as charged, Masterson faces a possible maximum sentence of 45 years to life in prison. All three accusers attended Friday’s hearing, as did about 20 of Masterson’s friends. These supporters were forced to wait outside the courtroom due to pandemic restrictions. Masterson has previously argued that he is an innocent victim being persecuted for his membership in the Church of Scientology. His la...
Demi Lovato is joining the list of artists mourning the loss of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died on Friday (Sept. 18). The 28-year-old pop star took to Instagram on Friday (Sept. 18) to recognize the legal and feminist icon’s decades-long commitment to equal rights while serving on the Supreme Court. “RBG, you are a super hero,” Lovato wrote alongside a black-and-white photo of Ginsburg. “For those that don’t know, she spent every day fighting for equal rights, women’s rights, LGTBQ+ rights, affordable healthcare AND MORE… Thank you for fighting for all of us. Thank you for being so brave. Your work will never go unappreciated.” Ginsburg died at her home in Washington, D.C., of complications from metastatic pancreatic cancer. She was 8...
#Deramalloalmundo streams Sept. 19. La Mosca, the Argentine big band whose infectious, danceable songs — including “Para no verte más” and “Todos tenemos un amor” — became hits throughout Latin America, will livestream their first quarantine show, #Deramalloalmundo (From Ramallo to the World), on Saturday (Sept. 19). The caveat: all nine band members will be onstage. “There are nine of us, and we are all essential,” says lead singer Guillermo Novellis, speaking on the phone from Ramallo, the group’s hometown (ergo the name of the show). Having a nine-piece band onstage during COVID is as surprising as, well, having a nine-man group at all (the name La Mosca, by the way, translates to The Fly). But La Mosca’s brash wind section is what always made the group stand out, in additio...
Kanye West has revealed that Eminem will be featured on a Dr. Dre remix of Ye’s 2019 song “Use This Gospel.” Yeezy took to Twitter on Friday (Sept. 18) to show his appreciation Eminem for appearing on the forthcoming track, and noted that it’s currently one of his daughter North West’s favorites from her dad’s music catalog. “@Eminem THANK YOU FOR RAPPING ON THE DR DRE REMIX OF USE THIS GOSPEL I HAVW ALWAYS LOVED AND RESPECTED YOU AND IM HONORED TO HAVE YOU BLESS THIS SONG … ITS ALSO NORTH WEST’S FAVORITE KANYE WEST SONG OF ALL TIME,” West wrote. “Use This Gospel” appeared on Ye’s ninth album, Jesus Is the King, in October 2019. A month after its release, Kanye announced that he was collaborating with Dr. Dre for the a...
Selena Gomez, one of the most influential stars on social media, went public Friday night (Sept. 18) with a private message she sent to Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg and Sheryl Sandberg. Gomez, who counts 193 million followers on Facebook-owned Instagram and more than 77 million on Facebook, posted the message on Instagram Stories, calling out the Facebook founder and CEO and Sandberg, chief operating officer, with a plea to start a dialogue on the hot button issues of misinformation and hate speech. “We have a serious problem. Facebook and Instagram are being used to spread hate, misinformation, racism, and bigotry,” she wrote, two days after a significant push by stars like Kim Kardashian, Jamie Foxx, Kerry Washington, Sacha Baron Cohen, Mark Ruffalo, Dwyane Wade Katy Perr...
This is Spinal Tap creators Harry Shearer, Rob Reiner, Christopher Guest, and Michael McKean have reached a settlement with Vivendi and its subsidiary StudioCanal after initially filing a lawsuit three and a half years ago that alleged the media conglomerate committed fraud and withheld revenue from them. In the initial lawsuit filed in October 2016, Shearer sought $125 million in compensatory and punitive damages, but the addition of three new plaintiffs (Reiner, Guest and McKean) raised that figure to $400 million when they joined the suit in February 2017. They claimed that Vivendi only reported $98 in total income from soundtrack music sales and $81 in worldwide merchandising income between 1989 and 2006. As The Hollywood Reporter states, both sides are in...
Avicii‘s 2013 debut album True quickly rose to platinum-selling status on the back of meteoric singles “Wake Me Up,” “You Make Me,” and more. However, until this week, only the ten songs from the album’s standard release have been available for streaming on Spotify, leaving five additional bonus tracks off the platform. Previously the deluxe version was only available via iTunes, CD, and on Amazon. Spotify now finally has the complete offering with the addition of bonus singles including the rock-house infused “Always On The Run,” “All You Need Is Love,” “Canyons,” the orchestral string-driven “EDOM,” and “Long Road To Hell.” The full Spotify release arrives as True turned seven y...
