It’s been well over a year since we’ve heard anything new from Lykke Li. That changes today, however, with the release of a fresh cover song. Fitting considering these unprecedented times, she has tackled the Gloria Gaynor anthem “I Will Survive”. In 2018, the Swedish songwriter effortlessly turned mournful brooding into something hot and heavy on her bluntly titled but very good so sad so sexy. It should come as no surprise, then, that her rendition of a disco classic sounds far and away from Gaynor’s original 1979 vision. That’s not to say the cover isn’t worth a spin or two, especially if you’re a fan of the way Li can evoke a very specific fragile ambiance. Hear it for yourself below, and then revisit Gaynor’s recent interview on This Must Be the Gig. Lately, Li has been surviving...
Dolly Parton, Pearl Jam, Hayley Williams of Paramore, Margo Price, and several other musicians have joined Stevie Nicks in paying tribute to Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. “She was small in stature but even the tallest looked up to her,” Parton said in a statement post to social media. “Her voice was soft but her message rang loud and clear and will echo forever. Thank you, RBG. Rest In Peace. Respectfully, Dolly Parton.” “A life that was the very definition of service,” wrote the members of Pearl Jam. “May she rest now in peace and may we not rest until we have carried her legacy forward.” “Major thanks to this badass,” remarked Williams. “Rest in peace & power #RBG now, let’s all PLEASE just fucking vote! I feel especially inclined to mention how much our reproductive rig...

Murphy had been nominated for Emmys twice before during his time on SNL in the early 1980s, but this marks his first-ever victory. Meanwhile, Maya Rudolph’s SNL portrayal of Democratic vice presidential candidate Kamala Harris earned her Outstanding Guest Actor in a ...
David Guetta has two more trophies to add to his mantle after being honored for breaking a pair of Guinness World Records. Fresh off the release of “Let’s Love,” a momentous collaboration with pop superstar Sia, the Grammy Award-winning dance music producer and DJ was honored in a surprise virtual certificate presentation. The awards were both pegged to his massive social media presence, as he broke the records for “most viewers for a DJ set live stream on Facebook” and “most liked DJ on Facebook.” Guinness World Records points out that Guetta raised over $1.5 million for COVID-19 relief with his “United At Home” livestream events earlier in 2020, which amassed 50 million collective viewers. The charity str...
Bear Grillz has joined forces with Adventure Club to deliver a feel-good future bass track featuring rising singer-songwriter JT Roach, titled “Where We Are.” By combining the two producers’ expertise in bass-leaning sound design and melodic stylings with a soulful vocalist, the end result is introspective and uplifting. The goal of the track was to have listeners reflect and celebrate the small things in life, so its creators had fans and friends send in clips doing things they love for the official music video. “Whether you are dancing, doing karate in the garage, brushing your teeth with your sweet Star Wars lightsaber toothbrush (We know we can’t be the only ones!), this record is all about being yourself and being happy ‘where you are,’...

Along with the single comes a fun lyric video that will have you singing along well into the weekend. “Me and Oliver have been working together forever,” Whethan shared in a press release. “We put out ‘When I’m Down’ 4 years ago and it was our first song that really blew up and got us both record deals. Here we are, years later, still working together and we’re putting out our best song to date.” The two artists continue t...

LAMB OF GOD‘s Mark Morton has blasted people who are defiantly skeptical of mask wearing, saying that their refusal to follow the rules is putting all of our health at risk, especially that of our elderly. This past Wednesday (September 16), the guitarist tweeted out a video of a group of anti-mask protesters marching through a Target in South Florida without any face coverings, and he included the following message: “When someone doesnt wear a mask indoors in public, it says NOTHING to me about them exercising their freedom or liberty. What it says to me is that you give ZERO fucks about me having to consider whether I might asymptomatically pass Covid to my 78 yr old cancer surviving mother.” Earlier this summer, the U.S. Surgeon General urged people to wear face coveri...
