Deftones Continue to Share Old Lyrics; Fans Speculate About New LP

Over the weekend, the Deftones blacked out their socials and have since been sharing throwback lyrics. And as of today (Aug. 18), it hasn’t stopped. As previously reported, the profile photos on their social media accounts have been replaced with the color black. And on the California band’s website, you can only see a sign-up option for something — their newsletter (Sure!) or some special release (Possibly?). And the most striking thing about the Deftones’ website is the URL, which ends with “0925,” which could point to a Sept. 25 release date. Deftones drummer Abe Cunningham said that he hoped for new music to drop in September. So the speculation of the website URL isn’t so far-fetched. And while there are no other details about new material in 2020, Cunningham accidentally shared a sni...

Sonic Youth, Mudhoney Members Unearth Stooges Cover Recorded in 1997

The Stooges’ Ron Asheton, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Steve Shelley, Mudhoney’s Mark Arm, Minutemen/Stooges Mike Watt and Sean Lennon, along with producer/musician Don Fleming and Jim Dunbar, joined forces in 1997 as Wylde Ratttz to record covers and originals for Todd Haynes’ 1998 film Velvet Goldmine, an homage to David Bowie and the ’70s glam scene. From that session, the band recorded a version of the Stooges’ “Fun House.” To celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Stooges’ second album, the group has unearthed “Fun House.” The cut features guitarist Asheton with Mudhoney’s Mark Arm on vocals and Sabir Mateen on tenor sax. The original version of the song is 7:45; this version stretches to nearly 12 minutes. Anoth...

White Tosser Gets Proper Flattened On The Tube By Black Bruvs For Being A Daft Racist

Source: Screenshot / Screenshot A white man most likely needs to go see his physician after catching the fade on London’s underground railway system. The bigoted bloke went on a rather racist rant before a group of Black bruvs decided they had enough and knocked the chatty fellow smooth out. Metro published a story featuring a video of the exchange where the white fellow is seen shouting nonsensical nonsense saying that “this is my home” apparently in a bid to depict to the group of Black youth that they’re invading his precious land. One of the men in the group responded to the man’s zany rant, and a woman who filmed the exchange is heard on the video saying to the man, in short, that he looks and sounds like a dumb ass. Others also can be heard saying that the man has a death wish among ...

Register today by texting VOTE to 30330. https://t.co/xPu5o0SYLJ — Michelle Obama (@MichelleObama) August 18, 2020 Obama’s speech was over 15 minutes long and featured a number of stirring moments. Feds Claim Jam Master Jay Was Murdered Over Drug Dealing Dispute

Source: Icon and Image / Getty After damn near 20 years, two men have finally been indicted in the murder of the late, great Jam Master Jay. However, the details surrounding the rap pioneer’s death are only opening old wounds instead of offering complete closure. According to the Feds, the motive behind the shooting and death of Run-DMC’s DJ, born Jason Mizell, was due to a drug dealing dispute. Per the prosecutors in the case, JMJ had been allegedly dealing cocaine for six years, and squeezing an old partner out of a deal is what lead to his death on October 30, 2002. Ronald “Tinard” Washington, 56, and Karl Jordan Jr., 36, were hit with murder charges for rushing into Jay’s Queens studio and gunning him down. Washington, long ago fingered as an accomplice, was already in prison for an un...

Dave Grohl Plays Drums on Superfan’s ‘Grohlathon’

Throughout quarantine, Pat Finnerty has been challenging himself to play every section of a song and sharing it on Instagram Live. And over the weekend, Finnerty, who’s a Dave Grohl superfan, decided to hop on another project called ‘Grohlathon’ as a means to get the Foo Fighters frontman to join him on a cover of Dire Straits’ “Money for Nothing.” And nine hours into his marathon IG Live session, Grohl finally crept in. “What the fuck are you guys doing?” Grohl yelled as he found his cardboard cut-out on Finnerty’s screen. Finerty managed to keep his cool and explain the project to the Grohl, while the Foos guitarist and singer sipped on his red wine. As the convo continued, Finnerty was able to fulfill his dream of playing the Dire Straits track with Grohl, who played drums on the track....

Will Smith and Kevin Hart Team Up for Planes, Trains and Automobiles Remake

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is getting a remake. As Deadline reports, Paramount Pictures has commissioned a modern update of John Hughes’ 1987 holiday classic with stars Will Smith and Kevin Hart in the lead. Brooklyn 99 and Woke writer Aeysha Carr will pen the script and make her feature film screenwriting debut. Not surprisingly, both Smith and Hart will also serve as producers on the project via Westbrook Studios and Hartbeat Productions, respectively. The original film starred Steve Martin and the late John Candy as two unlikely bedfellows who are forced to rely on each other as they find a way home before the Thanksgiving holiday. At the center of it all is a gooey heart beating with teary drama. Whether or nor this remake will similarly bring us to tears remains to be seen. The j...

#MetallicaMondays: Watch Metallica Rock Yankee Stadium at Historic “Big 4” Concert

Metallica have been streaming full concerts from their archives every Monday since the pandemic began, and the latest one is a “big” treat. The metal giants are sharing the set from their historic “Big 4” show at Yankee Stadium in 2011. In 2010 and 2011, Metallica played a series of “Big 4” concerts with fellow members of the big four of thrash: Slayer, Megadeth, and Anthrax. The Yankee Stadium gig on September 14th, 2011, marked the last of those shows, and was attended by roughly 42,000 fans. The 18-song setlist featured classics from throughout the band’s career, including “For Whom the Bell Tolls”, “Master of Puppets”, and “Enter Sandman”. Among the highlights was a cover of Motörhead’s “Overkill”, during which Metallica were joined onstage by members of the other Big 4 bands. As with ...
