Atlanta rap duo EarthGang make inventive, absurdist hip-hop songs that are not too dissimilar from the kind that fellow locals Outkast created. Now, like André 3000 and Big Boi before them, Olu and WowGr8 will contribute to the Madden video game franchise, as their new song “Powered Up” will be included on the Madden NFL 21 soundtrack. Madden NFL is the longest-running video game franchise in EA SPORTS’ history, and the company makes sure the soundtracks to these games are loaded with energetic songs to give you an extra boost to charge onwards. As the title suggests, “Powered Up” is perfectly designed to energize you as you pound the digital gridiron. The track distorts a squiggly synth line into a weird hook for EarthGang to rap atop. In the background, there’s lots of hazy electron...
Today brings the release of a new David Bowie live album. Entitled Something in the Air (Live Paris 99), the 15-track LP captures an October 14th, 1999 performance at the Elysée Montmarte in Paris, France. The concert was notable for a number of reasons. To start, it occurred on the same day Bowie was awarded the Commandeurs of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres, France’s highest artistic honor. It was also one of only seven shows performed in support of Bowie’s 1999 album, Hours. As for the setlist, it saw Bowie dig deep into his back catalog and dust off several songs he hadn’t played in decades, including “Can’t Help Thinking About Me”, “Word on a Wing”, and “Drive-In Saturday”. The concert also featured the live debut of Bowie’s Hours track “Something in the Air...
These days, we all need to wear masks to keep ourselves and those around us safe. So if we have to cover our faces, we might as well be bold about it. Introducing our new line of lux face mask designs. There’s the Marble Mask, a minimalistic but striking naturalistic design that is as calming as it is beautiful. Next is the Galaxy Mask, a cosmic print that’s truly out of this world. Finally, there’s the Seven Treasures Mask, inspired by classic Japanese patterns meant to welcome happiness and prosperity — and we could all use a little of that right now. All the masks on the Consequence Store provide double-layered protection for enhanced filtration, with a comfortably snug fit to guard against light to moderate amounts of fluid, spray, and/or aerosols. Made in the USA from O...
You may think it’s a sign of our perpetually insane times that a member of the Trump administration somehow managed to kick up a feud with a cartoon character. Nevertheless, Trump’s Senior Legal Adviser, Jenna Ellis, recently tweeted that Democratic VP candidate Kamala Harris “sounds like Marge Simpson.” This prompted Marge, ever the consummate (albeit imaginary) professional, to issue a polite but cutting response, criticizing Ellis for resorting to name-calling, something she discourages in her young children, and for disrespecting suburban housewives. That might seem like the latest bizarre cut from the never-ending “greatest hits” of 2020. But The Simpsons, and Marge in particular, have long found themselves entangled with real life political figures, most of whom, like Ellis, underest...

Annie Lennox wrote and performed one of Eurythmics‘ inarguably greatest hits when “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” came out and became a No. 1 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1983. But some fans are just getting around to it in 2020. Lennox was made aware that Tim and Fred Williams, a set of twin brothers from Gary, Ind., came across her hit for the first time this week. The 21-year-old brothers have grown to fame as of late for discovering hits from the decades and filming their reaction upon listening for their “First Time Hearing” series on their popular YouTube channel TwinsthenewTrend. And in an Aug. 9-dated video, the two strap in for their first time experiencing “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This),” and it certainly didn’t disappoi...

During an appearance on the latest episode of “Ned’s Coffee & Quarantine”, which airs on Iowa’s Rock 108 radio station, STATIC-X bassist Tony Campos was asked when the last time was that he had a clean-shaven face. He responded (see video below): “As far as the beard, I think I started growing it in ’97, ’98, maybe. Obviously, once I hit puberty, I never had a clean-shaven face — ’cause I always had a moustache — but I shaved the moustache once. It’s funny, ’cause my baby sister had never seen me without my moustache, and I think she was, like, nine or 10 when I said, ‘Fuck it! Let me shave off the moustache.’ And she flipped out, like, ‘What the fuck? Who is this? What did you do to your face?’ And it ...
