Martin Garrix Drops 8 IDs During Tomorrowland Around The World Performance
During his closing performance at the virtual Tomorrowland Around the World event, Dutch EDM superstar Martin Garrix treated viewers to eight new unreleased IDs. Unless you’re a true super-fan, catching even one or two IDs in a set can be tricky. Luckily, Garrix’s flagship label STMPD RCRDS compiled clips of the tracks and posted them to Instagram, calling on fans to try to identify the artists involved. At the time of writing, it is not clear when the identity of the unknown tracks will be revealed, but the label representatives hinted that some of them will be released in the near future. Hudson Mohawke Reworks Tracks from Beyoncé, Ciara, and More in Surprise EP
A new EP from Grammy Award-nominated producer Hudson Mohawke has seemingly dropped out of the sky. Heart of the Night spans four tracks, covering songs by Christina Milian, Ciara, and Beyoncé and Sean Paul. The record, which HudMo characterized as a “Little ep of classic rnb bootlegs I’ve made over the years” in a tweet, was released for free via Bandcamp. The EP arrives after the release of his surprise collaboration with Tiga, the wonky “Love Minus Zero,” earlier in the month of July. You can listen to Heart of the Night and find the tracklist below. STATIC-X bassist Tony Campos says that he is “not opposed” to making new music with the group’s current lineup once he and his bandmates have finished touring in support of “Project Regeneration”. Yellowcard Drop Their Lawsuit Against Juice WRLD
Pop-punks Yellowcard, who broke up in 2017, have dismissed their lawsuit against the late emo-rapper Juice WRLD according to the New York Times, for allegedly copying elements of their tune “Holly Wood Died” in his Sting-sampling megahit “Lucid Dreams.” This is probably for the best, though Yellowcard’s lawyer Richard S. Busch pointed out to Pitchfork that “the dismissal was without prejudice, so it can be refilled [sic].” Let’s hope not; United States District Judge Consuelo B. Marshall originally paused the suit after the rapper born Jarad Higgins died of an overdose ruled accidental at age 21. R.I.P. Denise Johnson, Primal Scream Vocalist Dies at 56
Denise Johnson, veteran singer who performed with Primal Scream, New Order, Pet Shop Boys, and countless other acts, passed away on Monday. She was 56. Friends and family confirmed the news on Twitter. Although no cause of death has officially been disclosed, a statement from the family confirmed that Johnson had been ill the week prior and her body was discovered holding her inhaler. Born in Manchester and raised in the suburb of Hulme, Johnson grew up in a musically rich household.
