Back in the month of March, Seven Lions unveiled his highly anticipated Find Another Way EP, offering up a beautiful 5-track project chock full of the typically rapturous sound synonymous with the melodic dubstep and trance kingpin. Seven Lions has now announced that a full remix package for Find Another Way is en route, arriving this Friday, July 3rd via his own Ophelia Records imprint. He took to Twitter to announce the exciting news, writing, “It’s been amazing sharing the Find Another Way EP with you all, and stoked that all the remixes I’ve been playing over all the livestreams will officially be out this Friday on [Ophelia Records].” Seven Lions has been teasing the remixes in many of his recent live sets, like his recent performance at the EDC Las V...

SM1LO Drop Bubbly Melodic House Jam “Counting Days”

New Jersey-based electronic duo SM1LO are back with their latest radio-ready earworm, the slow-burning “Counting Days (feat. Sara Ray).” “Counting Days” is a melodic house jam that combines pop sensibilities with a foot-tapping four-on-the-floor rhythm, delivering a bubbly electronic hybrid that should lift spirits amid the COVID-19-induced melancholia. SM1LO did a fantastic job melding the velvety vocals of Sara Ray with their warm sound to create a sun-kissed tune at the onset of summer. While were unable to go to live concerts and dance our worries away, the single serves as a timely reminder that better days are on the horizon, and we should all be counting them down. In addition to the radio edit of “Counting Days,” SM1LO also released a mammot...

Watch the Dazzling Closing Ritual from Q-dance’s “Defqon.1 at Home” Livestream

Earlier in the month of June, fabled hardstyle event brand Q-dance announced its foray into the virtual concert space with its “Defqon.1 at Home” livestream event. Since it was the first time in 18 years that Q-dance was unable to host its famed Defqon.1 festival, hardstyle fans had high hopes for the stream. The livestream, which took place last weekend, did not disappoint in the slightest. Organizers pulled out all the stops for Defqon.1 at Home, erecting a festival-grade stage for its performances, decked out to the nines with polychromatic lasers and pyrotechnics. Over the course of the three-day event, many of the most renowned producers in hardstyle graced the stage, including Coone, Da Tweekaz, DJ Isaac, and Headhunterz. The conclusion of the eve...

Steve Aoki and Eleanor Matsuura Call for End to Costo’s Caged Egg Sales in Asia

Steve Aoki has penned an open letter with The Walking Dead‘s Eleanor Matsuura calling for the end of Costco‘s sale of caged eggs in Asia. Directed to the grocery chain’s CEO, W. Craig Jelinek, the actress and EDM star state how caged egg sales violate the company’s own animal welfare policy and put Asian customers at risk of food-borne illness. They follow up the second point with links to studies that have shown that caged egg farms have higher rates of salmonella contamination than cage-free facilities. Caged eggs are not sold in their western stores, but are still on sale in Asia. In a segment of the letter shared by Showbiz Cheat Sheet, the two stars state how Asian customers should be treated the same as their western counterparts and that t...

The Dead South Sparkle With ‘Diamond Ring’ Performance at 2020 Juno Awards: Watch

The Dead South were very much alive and kicking at the 2020 Juno Awards, with the four-piece snaring a trophy and delivering a punchy performance. The folk-bluegrass act’s LP Sugar & Joy won the Juno for traditional roots album of the year, and the audience at home won with the Dead South’s performance of “Diamond Ring.” Nate Hilts and Co. brought an energy and sparkle with “Diamond Ring,” lifted from their award-winning third album. Speaking ahead of its release last October, the Regina, Saskatchewan-based band explained how FAME Studio-trained producer Jimmy Nutt turned the record into gold. “We’re really proud of the instrumentation on our new album,” the band said. “With the first two records, we were still figuring out how to fit it all together. With the help of Jimmy...

Fabolous vs. Jadakiss in ‘Verzuz’ Battle of New York Heavyweights: See Billboard’s Scorecard and Winner For the Showdown

It was Freddy versus Jason once again. Fabolous and Jadakiss served as the latest battle as part of Swizz Beatz and Timbaland‘s Verzuz series, as the New York veteran duo faced off for an Instagram live audience in the hundreds of thousands on Monday night (June 29). With more than four decades in music between the pair of rap titans, fans have had their calendars marked and Timberlands laced since the highly anticipated matchup was announced last week. There’s no bad blood here either, as the prolific MCs remain close friends and also released their underrated Friday on Elm Street joint album back in 2017. Instead of looking at it as more of a heavyweight bout, Fab and Jada see saw as a chance to showcase the depth of their decorated discographies, which range from underg...

Haim Lead Midweek U.K. Albums Chart With ‘Women in Music Pt. III’

Haim are on course for another U.K. chart crown. The Los Angeles sister trio’s third LP Women in Music Pt. III (Polydor) dominates the midweek albums chart, with a lead of nearly 5,000 combined sales, according to the OCC. It’s also the best-selling album on vinyl so far this week. Haim have good form on the U.K. survey. Their debut Days Are Gone (Columbia) bowed at No. 1 in October 2013, and their July 2017 sophomore set Something to Tell You reached No. 2. The album with the best chance of snatching the crown is Bob Dylan’s Rough and Rowdy Ways, which sits in second place and is the market-leader on CD sales. Rough and Rowdy Ways opened at No. 1 on the Official U.K. Albums Chart last Friday, for Dylan’s ninth leader in the territory. British singer and songwriter Jessie Ware is at N...

Pearl Jam Remember the 2000 Roskilde Festival Tragedy: ‘Nothing has Been the Same Since’

Pearl Jam have paid tribute to the lives lost on the 20th anniversary of the Roskilde Festival tragedy. The Seattle rock legends shared a solemn post to mark 20 years since that fateful day, when nine young men were crushed to death during their set at Roskilde, held near Copenhagen in Denmark. “A normal festival show day…show up 5 hours ahead. Wait for your slot. I barely remember it…” the post reads. “Sunny, I think. Lou Reed played, I think. Then rain and wind. But nothing has been the same since.” An accompanying clip features nine flames set to a black background, soundtracked by a live snippet from Pearl Jam’s “Love Boat Captain,” a 2002 song which references the tragedy. In the live cut, frontman Eddie Vedder tweaks the lyric to reflect the march o...
