Arcade Fire’s WE tour kicks off tonight (August 30) in Dublin, Ireland, and Feist took the stage as the show’s opening act. The band’s North American and European tour is currently scheduled to continue after allegations of sexual of misconduct were made by multiple people against frontman Win Butler. According to fans in attendance at the Dublin show tonight who shared photos on social media, there’s a sign at the merch booth noting that Feist will donate all proceeds from merchandise sales at tonight’s show to Women’s Aid Dublin, an organization dedicated to stopping domestic violence across Ireland. Pitchfork has reached out to Feist and Arcade Fire’s representative for comment. On Saturday in a new report, four people detailed allegations of sexual misconduct against Butler. The ...
Kesha and Lukasz “Dr. Luke” Gottwald’s respective legal teams have sent dueling letters to the court as the musicians head toward a potential trial in their long-running legal battle, as Rolling Stone reports and Pitchfork can confirm. In a letter dated August 22, one of Kesha’s attorneys, Anton Metlitsky, asked the court for a November sitting to hear the singer’s two appeals in the case. “The trial absolutely cannot proceed unless the issues presented in these appeals are resolved,” Metlitsky wrote. One of the appeals has to do with a recent decision in the case that New York’s updated anti-SLAPP laws no longer apply to the defamation lawsuit. Essentially, Dr. Luke was found to be a private figure, meaning there is a relatively lower bar to clear to prove that Kesha defamed the producer....
Rolling Loud California will be making its way back to Los Angeles for its 2023 iteration. The festival previously graced the city in 2019, when it was held at the Banc of California Stadium grounds, a soccer-specific venue located in Exposition Park. In 2021, Rolling Loud hit San Bernardino, a city about an hour’s drive from the Los Angeles city center. This March, however, Rolling Loud will return to Los Angeles, taking place at Hollywood Park in Inglewood. Adjacent to the SoFi Stadium, the hip-hop event will mark the first festival to take place at the sprawling 300-acre park. The festival will take place from March 3 through March 5. An artist lineup, as well as a sale date for tickets, will be announced at a later date. “Rolling Loud is deeply honored to be the first-ever music festiv...
With almost 60 percent of its global viewership tuning into at least one anime title back in 2021, it’s no surprise that Netflix is now hoping to further grow its anime category. To do so, the streaming giant has just entered into a new licensing partnership with Nippon TV, bringing even more beloved titles to the streaming service. Among the 13 new entrants will be Hunter x Hunter, Death Note, Berserk, Claymore, Nana, Monster, Hajime no Ippo: The Fighting! and Parasyte: The Maxim. No specific premiere dates have been offered for the series just yet, but Hunter x Hunter will take the lead with a scheduled launch date early next month. “For many years, anime has been a driving force at Nippon TV where we have been producing hit anime titles such as Hu...
Gearing up for the Fall premiere of Black Adam, the film’s lead Dwayne Johnson took to his Twitter to give fans possibly the clearest look at Pierce Brosnan‘s character, Dr. Fate. Following the announcement of the delays of Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom and Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Black Adam appears to be the only DC Comics film slated to release by the end of this year. The new poster revealed by Johnson shows a detailed look at Dr. Fate’s uniform. Dr. Fate is described as the “son of an archaeologist who was taught sorcery skills and given the magical Helmet of Fate.” Brosnan’s role as Dr. Fate is his first foray into the world of superheroes. Accompanying his Tweet is the caption, “Fate does not make mistakes.” Dr. Fate is considered one of DC’s oldest characters and even pre-dates the...
This year’s most popular new anime series, Spy x Family, has officially announced an October 1 premiere date for Part 2 of Season 1. With a dozen episodes released so far, 13 new episodes are set to arrive to round out the first season. In a minute-long teaser for Part 2 released last month, Agent Twilight, also known by Loyd Forger, is seen looking to stop a terrorist bombing while joined by the rest of the Forger family — consisting of the pink-haired telepath Anya and career assassin Yor. The following episodes will also look to adapt the “Doggy Crisis” Arc in which the Forgers adopt a pet dog that has the ability to see the future. While unconfirmed, the success of the first dozen episodes should be enough to warrant the development of Season 2 or a movie spinoff. For those that have y...
In 1997, Netflix was founded by Marc Randolph and Reed Hastings in Scotts Valley, California. The two founders reportedly came up with the idea while carpooling to work together. Inspired by Amazon’s retail model, the co-founders launched the company by renting and selling DVDs by mail, operating out of Hastings’ home. This year, Netflix celebrates 25 years of business, having grown to a massive media conglomerate with over 200 million subscribers across 190 countries and its own lineup of widely-popular original movies and television series, including Stranger Things, Squid Game, Black Mirror and more. To mark the anniversary, Netflix offered fans a look back at its humble beginnings and a walk through its interesting history with a new animated reel. The video shows what the original Net...
Middle-earth, if you weren’t aware, is a big place. The fantasy world created by J.R.R. Tolkien and brought to the screen numerous times, most famously in Peter Jackson’s Oscar-winning trilogy The Lord of the Rings, encompasses many different races scattered across different lands, from sunny forests to bleak winter landscapes to mines buried deep within the Earth — settings which all come to life in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, the epic new fantasy series debuting this week on Prime Video. During a recent press day for The Rings of Power, Consequence spoke with 12 members of the cast in groups of four, each group a mix of Elves, Dwarves, Harfoots, and Men. This meant that while everyone was friendly and familiar with each other, the separation between storylines meant that m...

In the decades before Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman was successfully adapted as a hit Netflix series, Warner Bros. had been pushing the comic book writer to make a film. In an appearance on Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Gaiman mentioned that an executive at the studio once mentioned to him that Michael Jackson wanted to star as the protagonist Dream (aka Morpheus) during the mid-’90s. According to Gaiman, he had previously come to an agreement with Warner Bros. executive Lisa Henson in the early ’90s to not make a Sandman movie because he was “just getting started on the comic” and “it would be a distraction.” In the mid-’90s, however, he took a meeting with a different exec and was told the property was one of Warner’s “crown jewels.” Not only that, Michael Jackso...
A nightclub in Australia is taking a series of new steps in an effort to strengthen its culture of consent. Sydney’s Club 77 is expanding its zero-tolerance harassment policy to ban unwanted staring, according to a statement issued by the venue. “As a nightclub, we encourage you to interact with strangers, however any engagement MUST begin with verbal consent,” reads a post shared on Club 77’s Instagram page. “This also applies if you are, for example, staring at someone from afar. If the attention you are giving someone is unwanted, that is considered harassment.” Elsewhere in the statement, Club 77 states the venue is not solely a place for “pick up,” and reiterates that giving fellow club-goers any unwanted attention is in violation ...
