Arctic Monkeys have officially dropped “There’d Better Be A Mirrorball,” the lead single of their upcoming album The Car. Clocking in at approximately four-and-a-half minutes, the new cut is a piano-laden effort that picks up from where 2018’s Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino left off. Frontman Alex Turner’s silky vocals slide over the smooth yet grandiose instrumental effort as he sings his iconic heartbreaking lyrics, ushering in a new era for the Sheffield band. The Car will mark the group’s first studio record in four years and was produced by longtime collaborator James Ford. The album promises to include “a new and sumptuous musical landscape and contains some of the richest and most rewarding vocal performances of Alex Turner’s career.” Watch Arctic Monkeys’ music video for ...
Amidst news of price increases for the PlayStation 5 due to global inflation, Sony has now released a new model of its flagship gaming console in Australia. The new “CFI-1200” Sony PlayStation 5 being sold in Australia is identical to models currently available in terms of specifications and appearance, but interestingly weighs less. It is unclear just how Sony achieved the weight drop, but the PS5 CFI-1200 Standard version weighs 8.6 pounds (original 9.9 pounds) and the PS5 CFI-1200 Digital Edition weighs 7.5 pounds (original 8.6 pounds). Currently, the new lighter version of the Sony PlayStation 5 has only surfaced in Australia and a Japan release is set for September 15. It is currently unclear when the model will be available worldwide. It is interesting to note, the CFI-1200 model ser...
In celebration of the franchise’s 20th anniversary, 2K Games and Hanger 13 have come together to announce that a whole new Mafia title is now under development. Breaking the news over on the studio’s blog post, Hanger 13 general manager Roman Hladík said “I’m happy to confirm we’ve started work on an all-new Mafia project! While it’s a few years away and we can’t share anything more right now, we’re really excited to keep working on this beloved franchise and to entertain our players with new stories.” As you can tell, details revolving around the new installment are kept largely under wraps by 2K for now, but a previous report from Kotaku earlier this year mentioned a rumor of a Mafia prequel that’ll be set in Italy and also run on Epic Games‘ Unreal Engine 5. Of course, neither...
Since Travis Scott announced his return to live performance with two sold-out shows at the O2 Arena in London and his Las Vegas residency slated to begin in September, fans have been anticipating the drop of his upcoming album Utopia. Over the weekend, La Flame was spotted in the studio with Pharrell. HipHopDX was the first to report on the meet-up when the photo of the pair smiling ear-to-ear in th studio began circling online. It appears that spirits were high as they continue “cooking up in the studio.” Pharrell has appeared on many of Travis Scott’s albums including the expanded edition of Rodeo in 2015 for “Flying High.” Pharrell has also appeared as a guest feature on “Skeletons” with The Weeknd and Tame Impala. While the official Utopia album date has not yet been revealed, Scott ha...
Devised as a music award alternative back in 1984, the MTV Video Music Awards annually honor the best talent and creativity presented in music video format. This year’s 2022 ceremony not only highlighted a plethora of artists and envelope-pushing projects but also provided several shock-and-awe moments. Hypebeast was front-and-center at this year’s iconic event – taking note of the winners, the performers and the biggest moments of the night – held for a second time in Newark, New Jersey’s Prudential Center. At the top of the show, Jack Harlow performed his hit-song “First Class,” aboard a makeshift airplane and then brought Fergie onstage – as a surprise – to sing alongside him for a “First Class/Glamorous” mashup; a fitting homage, as his song includes a sample of her 2006 hit. Lizzo als...
From the underground to the Ultra mainstage, the future rave genre is sinking its teeth into the electronic music zeitgeist. We recently sat down with MORTEN in Miami, where the Danish dance music star and future rave flag-bearer opened up in an intimate interview before appearing onstage at Ultra Music Festival with his parter-in-crime, David Guetta. In many ways, future rave is emblematic of the euphoric ethos of the return of electronic music in Miami after a brutal pandemic. Bridging the gap between dark techno and soaring progressive house music, the genre has inspired a post-electro wave of hungry music producers. “I think it’s limitless,” MORTEN said when we asked how big the future rave movement could become. MORTEN chats with EDM.com live at Ultra Music Fest...

Freekill, a popular DJ and electronic music producer, has died. Known for his quirky, heavy-hitting sound, Freekill, whose real name was Kyllian Modeste, will be remembered as a virtuosic and versatile bass music producer.
