Taylor Swift is being sued by poet and author Teresa La Dart, who claims that Swift stole the design of La Dart’s 2010 book Lover for the book accompanying Swift’s 2019 album of the same name. In a new copyright lawsuit filed in Tennessee federal court and viewed by Pitchfork, La Dart says that “a number of creative elements” from her book *Lover—*a self-published collection of poems—were copied by Swift for her own Lover book, which came with the special edition CD release of her album. La Dart’s lawyer claims Swift owes her in “excess of one million dollars” in damages as a result. Michelle Branch’s domestic assault case has been dismissed. The singer-songwriter was arrested and charged with misdemeanor domestic assault after allegedly slapping her estranged husband, Patrick Carney, on August 11th. The two apparently got into an argument after Branch learned about Carney’s infidelity. Now, the charge against Branch has been dropped “at the request of the state.” Following the arrest, Branch filed for divorce from Carney on August 15th, ending three years of marriage. “To say that I am totally devastated doesn’t even come close to describing how I feel for myself and for my family,” she said in a statement. “The rug has been completely pulled from underneath me and now I must figure out how to move forward. The team at Warner Bros. Discovery has doubled down on a scorched-earth strategy to cut costs in recent months, but it doesn’t seem to be working. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the company is so low on money that it’s pushed back the release dates of two movies, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and Shazam! Fury of the Gods, in order to spread out the costs associated with marketing and distribution. Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was originally slated to drop on March 17th, 2023, but it has now been delayed to December 25th, 2023. On Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court, Offset filed a lawsuit against his longtime record label, Quality Control. In the complaint, Offset, born Kiari Cephus, claims that Quality Control has ownership of his solo music despite a deal the rapper made with the label that he could release his solo music independently. According to the suit, Offset claims he paid Quality Control “handsomely for those rights” to his solo music. In a now-deleted Tweet on Wednesday, the rapper’s wife, Cardi B, said Offset bought himself out of his Quality Control deal after the record label didn’t want him to renegotiate it.
