Olivia Newton-John, ‘Grease’ Star and ‘Physical’ Singer, Dies at 73
Veteran entertainer Olivia Newton-John died this morning (Aug. 8) at 73, following a long battle with breast cancer. A Facebook statement from her husband, John Easterling, added that John passed away surrounded by family and friends at her ranch in southern California. First diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, John beat the disease on a number of occasions and funneled her energies into the Olivia Newton-John Foundation, an independent charity sponsoring global research into plant medicine for cancer. Blackpink Sets Dates, Cities for ‘Born Pink’ World Tour
As tipped here last month, K-pop superstars Blackpink will embark on a massive world tour starting Oct. 15-16 in Seoul. The Born Pink outing has dates on the books through June 21, 2023, in Auckland. Venues have yet to be announced. Ahead of the the tour, Blackpink will release a new single, “Pink Venom,” on Aug. 19, with a new studio album to follow on a September date to be announced. It will be the follow-up to 2020’s The Album, which reached the top 10 on more than 20 individual album charts. While 1997’s GoldenEye 007 is an iconic game in its own right, modders have now managed to turn the Nintendo 64 title into a full game for another equally classic James Bond film, The Spy Who Loved Me. In an hour-long clip featured above, YouTube user Graslu00 plays through 11 levels of the new mod, which spans across all the locations of the film including the legendary ski chase scene in the Alps, the rooftop fight in Egypt, and the Liparus supertanker in the Atlantic Ocean. With its October release date soon approaching, Activision and Infinity Ward have finally announced the open beta dates for the highly anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II. Taking place over two weekends in September, gamers will be able to access the title earlier and for longer if they’re on the PlayStation platform, which doesn’t come as a surprise given the publisher’s previous deals with Sony Interactive Entertainment. Nvidia Gaming Revenue Fell by Over 1 Billion USD in Q2
Nvidia has released its preliminary results for Q2, which demonstrate a drastic decrease in gaming revenue. The company reported that its gaming revenue wound up at $2.04 billion USD, compared to $3.06 billion USD last year. Although the official earnings won’t be shared for another two weeks, the drop reported in the preliminary results marks a 33% decrease in revenue amid an industry-wide trend of fewer consumers buying gaming hardware.
