The ever-growing American hip-hop festival Rolling Loud has officially announced it will be expanding to Thailand in 2023. The news of Rolling Loud Thailand was confirmed on the festival’s Twitter account in a simple tweet that said, “Rolling Loud Thailand. See you 2023.” Currently, no lineup, date nor venue has been announced and information regarding ticketing has not yet been released. This venture to Thailand will mark the festival’s first official event in Asia after its failed attempt to host in Hong Kong. In 2019, Rolling Loud was scheduled to take place in October in Hong Kong, but due to the ongoing protests at the time, they were unable to move forward as planned. Rolling Loud Hong Kong was meant to bring in artists like Migos, Wiz Khalifa, Playboi Carti and more. Recently, Rolli...
Bruce Springsteen has been in the news for all the wrong reasons in the past week, as fans have expressed outrage over Ticketmaster’s “dynamic pricing” algorithm offering outrageously expensive seats to The Boss’ upcoming North American tour. Tonight (July 26), the artist briefly sidestepped the controversy by joining Bleachers at New York’s Radio City Music Hall for a surprise performance of “Chinatown,” their collaboration from the latter group’s 2021 album Take the Sadness Out of Saturday Night. “We’ve only ever done it acoustic before, so let’s tear the fuckin’ roof off this place,” Bleachers frontman Jack Antonoff shouted as the song kicked in, with Springsteen strumming an acoustic guitar and reprising his vocal parts from the studio version. Antonoff was visibly moved at the song’s ...

The Linda Lindas started out as a cover band, and we’ve played more songs by the Go-Go’s than anyone else. And even after we started to write our own songs, we never stopped playing “Tonite.” We love the idea of us going out and owning our town, and “Tonite” is as fun to play as it is empowering—especially the part where we all sing together. “We rule the streets tonite until the morning light” and so should our fans. Because the cover is such a hit at shows, we decided to record a studio version to pay tribute to the greatest all-female rock band of all time, a crucial part of the L.A. punk scene, and our heroes.
Sadie Dupuis, of both Sad13 and Speedy Ortiz, has a new collection of poetry on the way. It’s titled Cry Perfume and it arrives on October 4 via Black Ocean. Her second book of poetry, following 2018’s Mouthguard, is comprised of poems she wrote on the road across four years of touring. “I’d lost friends to overdose, and felt anger at the ways in which live music largely ignores the needs of musicians and music fans who use drugs or who face addiction—and how in many ways, artists are encouraged toward untenable living,” Dupuis said in a statement. “The chronic underpayment of musicians, the inseparability of venues and alcohol sales, and the arts’ increasing absorption into algorithmically-motivated tech felt like interwoven concerns.” Dupuis issued her second album as Sad13, Haunted Pain...
Teenage Los Angeles rock band The Linda Lindas have paid tribute to one of their biggest influences by releasing their own studio version of The Go-Go’s’ “Tonite.” They frequently cover the song, drawn from The Go-Go’s’ iconic 1981 debut album Beauty and the Beat, in concert. “The Linda Lindas started out as a cover band, and we’ve played more songs by The Go-Go’s than anyone else,” the band says. “And even after we started to write our own songs, we never stopped playing ‘Tonite.’ We love the idea of us going out and owning our town, and ‘Tonite’ is as fun to play as it is empowering — especially the part where we all sing together. ‘We rule the streets tonite until the morning light’ and so should our fans. When you talk about successful artists who have well-documented struggles with addiction and mental health, you pretty much have to mention Anthony Green. As the lead singer of the long-running rock band Circa Survive (amongst a long line of others, like Saosin, Fuckin Whatever, and the Sound of Animals Fightings) and an accomplished solo artist, Green has almost always been an open book about the challenges he’s faced. Fresh off a tour with Tim Kasher (Cursive) and Laura Jane Grace (Against Me!) and the release of his latest album, Boom. Done — which is every bit a dissection and brazenly open exploration of the triumphs and troubles in the world he orbits — Green took some time to sit on a lawn on a beautiful sunny day and chat about some of the harder conversations many people tend to s...
