Compared to the last couple of years, 2022 has been a bonanza of incredible rock record releases. It seems like every week there are two or three projects just begging for proper time and attention. Many artists who were kept off the road due to the pandemic and were inspired to write during their forced, sabbatical and have returned with fresh perspectives and new sounds. Then there were those who held back some of their best material to wait and see how the state of the world shook out. However they got to 2022, and it’s a joy to finally begin to hear these legitimately righteous records. Max Tundra Re-Pressing His Three Albums on Vinyl, Shares A. G. Cook Remix
Max Tundra, the British producer who released three cult favorite albums in the 2000s, is re-pressing each of them on vinyl, via Domino. As well as Some Best Friend You Turned Out to Be, Mastered by Guy at the Exchange, and Parallax Error Beheads You, he will release a remix mixtape digitally. Remixtape features remixes by Julia Holter and Kero Kero Bonito, and a cover by Katie Dey, as well as a remix by Tundra’s successor in madcap pop production, A. G. Cook. Danny Elfman has announced Bigger. Messier., a remix version of his 2021 album Big Mess. The record—due out August 12 via Anti- and Epitaph—includes previously released collaborations with Trent Reznor, Squarepusher, and Zach Hill, as well as a new version of “Kick Me,” featuring Iggy Pop. Dungen Announce First Album in 7 Years, Share Video for New Song
Dungen have announced their first new album since 2015’s Allas Sak. En Är För Mycket och Tusen Aldrig Nog is out October 7 via Mexican Summer. Check out the lead single “Nattens Sista Strimma Ljus” with a video directed by Isidor Xavier Estrada Nyqvist below. The new album’s title translates to One is Too Much and a Thousand is Never Enough.
