Odd Jobs is a new series that takes a look behind the curtain of professional musicians’ secondary careers and side hustles. If Matt Hoopes made his biggest mark on the music industry as the guitarist for pop-punk/Christian rockers Relient K, most people would’ve considered it a successful career. Eight studio albums (plus a pair of Christmas albums and one covers project), a song that you couldn’t escape for a chunk of the mid-2000s, and nearly a quarter-century standing next to singer Matt Thiessen’s curly blond hair is more than most accumulate. But in 2018, Hoopes launched 1981 Inventions, a company based around a single guitar effects pedal that he’d spent years perfecting. The pedal (named the DRV) sold out immediately. It earned rave reviews as a slightly brighter and refined take o...

At this point, the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are doing literally anything to break their franchise-record losing streak. The team just fired its manager, Joe Maddon, and are willing to do anything to break a 12-game skid that saw them go from leading the AL West 10 games over .500 to being two games under. Desperate times call for desperate measures, so the team decided to play Nickelback and only Nickelback last night in order to break the streak. Every batter on the team, including All-Stars (and all-world if we want to be honest here) Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout, came out to Nickelback before their at-bats. However, not even using Nickelback as a slump buster could help Orange County’s baseball team. However, it wasn’t meant to be. The Angels lost again, this time a 1-0 nailbi...

In a new statement, they called apologized for the “recklessness and naivete” of their previous one. “We would like to start by clarifying a few things from our first post,” the band wrote in the new statement. “When we spoke of loving ‘beyond disagreement’ and not knowing ‘where the moral high ground lies,’ that was in specific referred to playing shows in Israel during a time where BDS (The Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions movement is a Palestinian-led movement promoting boycotts, divestments, and economic sanctions against Israel) is...
According to reports, the next game from Hideo Kojima’s development studio, Kojima Productions, has leaked. Tom Henderson, a freelance reporter for Try Hard Guides, recently wrote an article about an upcoming horror game, titled Overdose. Henderson also shared details about the footage sent to him anonymously, saying that a character in a blue dress with Qualley’s likeness can be seen walking through a dark corridor with a flashlight. Following a jump scare, “Game Over” and text reading “A Hideo Kojima Game…Overdose” takes over the screen. Adding to the validity of the claims, Kojima Productions has reached out to Henderson to remove his article and accompanying social posts. Fo...
