Bath time ran longer than anticipated, so the 32-year-old Chicagoan calls back when his infant daughter is occupied with episodes of Sesame Street. Teacher by day, recent father and husband by night, Levin also raps as Defcee whenever possible. These days, multi-tasking is imperative. “I’m still figuring out how to structure my time to honor all of my commitments in full,” he says on a Tuesday evening in late May. After a decade-plus of veritable obscurity and spotty releases, Levin’s released a series of increasingly gripping albums and EPs since 2018, including April’s For All Debts Public and Private on Cl...
The release of Top Gun: Maverick has kept star Tom Cruise busy. With the film at top of mind, the action star is having fun with his promos, recently taking on two ex-Formula 1 drivers on the iconic British Grand Prix Silverstone race track. Cruise caught up with Channel 4 Sport for a “dogfight” on the track between himself and David Coulthard and Mark Webber. All three are driving a Porsche 911 GT3 as they speak about being each other’s wingmen. Known for doing all his stunts, Cruise knows a thing or two about maneuvering high-speed vehicles. As the trio begins their race, scenes from his newest film Maverick are intertwined with shots from the actual race on the track. Cruise gets into character to deliver some of his most iconic lines as he takes on the two former racers on the Silverst...
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs opened their first show in three years last night (May 30) at Los Angeles’ Teragram Ballroom by debuting their new single, “Spitting Off the Edge of the World.” The studio version of the track, which features Perfume Genius, will be released tomorrow. They also performed new songs “Fleez” and “Splitting.” [embedded content][embedded content] [embedded content][embedded content] [embedded content][embedded content] The atmospheric, synth-heavy “Spitting Off the Edge of the World” is the first new music from the New York rockers in the more than nine years since the release of Mosquito in 2013. Last night’s setlist featured a few other new, as-yet-unreleased tracks, including “Burning,” “Fleez” and “Black Top.” Back in March, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs announced they’ll rel...
Building up anticipation for Maestro starring Bradley Cooper, Netflix recently shared set photos from its upcoming original film. The movie serves as a biographical film based on the life of American conductor, composer, pianist, music educator Leonard Bernstein. Maestro is co-written and directed by Bradley Cooper and produced by Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg and Todd Phillips. Bernstein is best known for his work in the Broadway musical West Side Story and is considered to be one of the most important conductors of his time. The set photos show Bradley Cooper both playing a young Leonard Bernstein alongside Carey Mulligan as Bernstein’s wife Felicia Montealegre, and serving as director. But many are talking about the prosthetic transformation used to age Cooper to play an aged Bernst...
The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau confirmed during Star Wars Celebration that they are already working on the fourth season, despite the third season not being release until early 2023. When speaking to CinemaBlend, Favreau shared that the process of writing the script of the fourth season is already in the works. He praised how much he is enjoying the television format, claiming that he can touch on many aspects of things slowly without cramming everything up into “hour-and-a-half, two hours,” adding, “We get to tell stories slowly. So now, as Dave [Filoni]‘s doing Ahsoka, it’s very much informing the writing that I’m doing for [The Mandalorian] Season 4. It becomes – how should I put it – more precise.” “When I was writing the first season of Mandalorian, I could do anything,...
Following the recent announcement from Disney+ that season three of The Mandalorian will premiere in February 2023, star Pedro Pascal has revealed that he would like to take the adventures of the helmeted hero to the big screens. Pascal, who plays Din Djarin, has explained to Variety that he is ready for his character to receive a film adaptation. He responded, “Don’t you think it’s inevitable? I, personally, I have no, truly, I have no idea, but that would be a dream come true. Not that any more dreams could possibly come true! Maybe I’ve had my fill.” While Pascal revealed very little on what he expects the direction of his character should take, he showed great enthusiasm for extending the series drama to a full-length film, “I love going to the movies. Going back and just being able to...
Will Butler has released his first new music since his surprising March departure from Arcade Fire in the form of two songs from Merge Records, “A Stranger’s House” and “Nearer to Thee.” Butler will also tour this summer for the first time since 2019, with a seven-show run beginning Aug. 11 in Cambridge, Mass. Unsurprisingly, both new songs share some musical DNA with Arcade Fire, which Butler joined a couple years after his brother Win founded the band in 2001. “A Stranger’s House” and “Nearer to Thee” feature Butler’s core band of Sara Dobbs, Miles Francis, Jenny Shore and Julie Shore, who also played on his 2020 release Generations. [embedded content][embedded content] “‘A Stranger’s House’ has a rad video. ‘Nearer to Thee’ is some true gothic bullshit. I love them both,” Butler wrote o...
