A teaser for Mad Max creator George Miller‘s newest film, Three Thousand Years of Longing, has been released. Based on A.S. Byatt’s 1994 short story The Djinn in the Nightingale’s Eye, the 20-second teaser sees Tilda Swinton as Dr. Alithea Binnie and Idris Elba as Djinn, a magical entity who offers the academic three wishes for his freedom: “This presents two problems. First, she doubts that he is real and second, because she is a scholar of story and mythology, she knows all the cautionary tales of wishes gone wrong. The Djinn pleads his case by telling her fantastical stories of his past. Eventually she is beguiled and makes a wish that surprises them both.” Augusta Gore co-wrote the screenplay with Miller, while Doug Mitchell co-produced alongside the director. The film was first announ...

Welcome to Harry’s House: The third studio album from Harry Styles is here. Styles announced Harry’s House, his follow-up to 2019’s Fine Line, back in March with a brief teaser trailer. Lead single “As It Was” — which we crowned Song of the Week — followed shortly thereafter. Styles then premiered the cuts “Boyfriends” and “Late Night Talking” during his weekend one set at Coachella last month. Although the 13-track LP conveniently shares its name with a 1975 Joni Mitchell tune, the title Harry’s House is actually a nod to Japanese pop legend Haruomi “Harry” Hosono. As Styles explained during an interview with Apple MusicL “[Hosono] had an album in the ’70s called Hosono’s House, and I spent that chunk in Japan; I heard that record and I was like, ‘I love that. It’...
Paris Jackson has gone grunge with her latest solo single, “lighthouse.” “I can feel the lights go low/ But I don’t wanna let go now/ Maybe if I turn around, you’ll see me/ And what you used to be/ Your wave keeps crashing in a changeless sea/ And I can’t help but feel it’s drowning me/ No, I can’t breathe/ The oil’s burnt in the lighthouse, my ship wrecked on your teeth,” she snarls on the chorus over boisterous guitars. According to a press release, “lighthouse” was specifically inspired by Nirvana’s “Sliver.” The song serves as the lead single off the Hollywood progeny’s forthcoming as-yet-untitled EP, a follow-up to her three-song project the lost from earlier this year and her 2021 collaborations with Manchester Orchestra (“adagio”) and The Struts (“Low Key in Love”). Drama may be brewing in the Migos camp. Shortly after fans noticed Offset unfollowed his bandmates Quavo and Takeoff on Instagram, the duo have dropped “Hotel Lobby,” a new song under the name Unc and Phew. “Hotel Lobby” is accompanied by a music video inspired by Terry Gilliam’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Watch it below. Given that Quavo is Takeoff’s uncle, Unc and Phew is an appropriate name for the duo. No word on Offset’s supposed beef with the two, but his wife, Cardi B, has also unfollowed them on Twitter. Advertisement Migos’ last album was Culture III, which they released last summer. They promoted the project with a Tiny Desk (Home) Concert. All three of the rappers have released solo albums: Takeoff dropped The Last Rocket in 2018, while Quavo released Quavo Huncho...

Quavo and Takeoff have officially debuted as Unc and Phew with the release of their first ever single, “HOTEL LOBBY.” Clocking in at two-and-a-half minutes, “Hotel Lobby” features production work from Murda Beatz, Keanu Beats and Fabio Aguilar. The track also arrives with an accompanying music video co-directed by Keemotion and Quavo, which shows the pair taking a trip to Vegas and enjoying the city’s pleasures. The visual pays homage to Terry Gilliam’s Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, which starred Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro, and sees Quavo and Takeoff as Raoul Duke and Dr. Gonzo cruising through the desert. The single arrives in the midst of rumors alleging that Migos — the famed Atlanta trio comprised of Quavo, Takeoff and Offset — have quietly split. A Twitter user pointed out tha...
Logic and DJ Premier have dropped off their collaborative effort, “Vinyl Days.” Clocking in at almost five-minutes, the single is the title track of the rapper’s upcoming album and hears Logic spitting non-stop bars over some classic Premier sampling and production. Effortless and easy to the ears, “Vinyl Days” follows the previously-released cuts “Breath Control,” ”Therapy Music,” “Tetris” and “Decades” — all of which are expected to appear on the record. Vinyl Days will mark Logic’s first full-length release since 2020’s No Pressure, which was meant to be his final album before his retirement that turned out to be short-lived. The rapper is set to hit the road with Wiz Khalifa this summer for the “Vinyl Verse” tour, and will be joined by DJ DRAMA, C Dot Castro and Fedd the God....
Since the release of his debut solo single “Sign of The Times,” Harry Styles has made it clear that the (one) direction he would be heavily inspired by classic rock. The McCartney-meets-Queen power ballad was just a jumping-off point—a marker of taste that was broader than his days as a One Directioner. All the while, he’s remained genre-fluid, experimenting with psych-pop, funk, folk and indie-rock, but maintaining a pop ethos that would make The Beatles proud. Evoking comparisons to a modern-day Mick Jagger (he even portrayed him on Saturday Night Live), Harry Styles has established himself as the gentleman rock star of the pop world. It’s not just his talent: His charm, swagger. and kindness sets him apart from predecessors like Justin Bieber and Justin Timberlake, who secured a followi...
