Interpol Spins ‘Fables’ on Third Single From New Album

Interpol has released “Fables,” the third pre-release single from its upcoming album The Other Side of Make-Believe. Per frontman Paul Banks, the track features one of guitarist Daniel Kessler’s “hottest licks, a breezy vocal with optimistic lyrics and a bouncy drum beat evocative of classic R&B with a nod to the golden age of hip-hop. It’s a summer jam and a piece of music we are particularly proud of.” “Fables” has already become a nightly part of Interpol’s set lists on the band’s in-progress world tour, as have fellow new album songs “Something Changed,” “Toni” and “Into the Night.” A fifth new track, “Gran Hotel,” made its debut on May 11 in Boston and has been performed twice since. The Other Side of Make-Believe was produced with rock veterans Flood and Alan Moulder and arrives ...

Remembering Chris Cornell, 5 Years Later

It’s difficult at times to drive around Seattle and not recognize the ultramega imprint that Chris Cornell left behind on his hometown. At least it is for me. Even for a city that’s widely known for ruthlessly tearing away and repurposing its own history in the name of “progress” – think bigger, taller, glassier high-rises as far as the eye can see – Chris’s fingerprints are everywhere. Rolling down Leary Way in his old, childhood stomping grounds around Ballard, you’ll pass triangular-shaped Reciprocal Recordings, where Soundgarden recorded their debut album Screaming Life in 1987. Studio Litho, where they laid down their final, pre-breakup record, 1996’s Down on the Upside, nearly two decades later is only a couple of minutes further up the street, across from the massive statue of Vladi...

Megan Fox Praises Machine Gun Kelly For ‘Vulnerable’ Performance at Billboard Music Awards

Megan Fox is Machine Gun Kelly’s biggest fan. The Transformers actress proved it once again with a post-Billboard Music Awards PDA for her fiancé, in the form of a social post. “Baby – so proud of you for giving such a vulnerable and emotional performance. You are magic,” she wrote, adding a pair of heart emojis. MGK was one of the stars of 2022 BBMAs, when he took the stage for a performance of “Twin Flame,” which appears on his latest album Mainstream Sellout, a No. 1 hit on the Billboard 200 albums chart last month. But it was his reference to Fox as his “wife” ahead of the performance, and his mid-song dedication to his “unborn child” that had fans chattering online for hours after the show wrapped. Nick Jonas has taken to parenthood like a pop star takes to a mic. It comes naturally. The Jonas Brother and Priyanka Chopra became parents when they welcomed Malti Marie Chopra Jonas via surrogate in January. Complications followed, however, and their bub spent more than 100 days in the newborn intensive care unit. Thankfully “our little girl’s home and she’s doing amazing,” Jonas told Jimmy Fallon when he stopped by The Tonight Show on Tuesday (May 17). “It’s just, what a gift a baby is. It really is.” And how are the JoBros as uncles? “Amazing,” we’re told. Music Supervisor Juliet Martin on Creating the Soundtrack of Conversations With Friends: “It’s a Team Effort”

In Episode 5 of Conversations With Friends, there’s a moment of quiet reconciliation between two of the central characters, Frances (Alison Oliver) and Bobbi (Sasha Lane): As two friends who seem stuck in a loop of hurting one another and acting selfishly, its a gentle, dialogue-free visual of the two women hooking their pinkies together that speaks to forgiveness. Then, “Nod” by Julianna Barwick and Nosaj Thing kicks in, and the whole moment takes flight. Juliet Martin is the mastermind behind this moment and many others on Conversations With Friends, although she’d probably dispute that description. Speaking with Consequence over the phone, she paints a portrait of how many of those needledrop moments come together. “People sometimes have a misconception that the Music Supervisor’s ...

Netflix on Tuesday announced that Tom Brady will be the first guest on its upcoming roast series, Greatest Roasts of All Time: GROAT.
