After almost two decades, The Cure has made a much-awaited return with a new epic track titled “Alone.” The single will serve as the opening number for the band’s forthcoming LP Songs Of A Lost World.The song begins with an extravagant instrumental arrangement comprising swelling strings and stadium drums before lead singer Robert Smith’s classic yearning vocalizations enter nearly halfway through the almost seven-minute track. According to a statement from the band, the song takes its inspiration from a Victorian poem titled “Dregs” by British poet Ernest Dowson.
