Bored of Beige? Here’s How to Incorporate Colour Into Your Wardrobe This Season

The fashion world can broadly be divided up into people who love colour and those who feel most comfortable in soft beiges and muted tones. It’s fair to say that the fashion gods have not looked kindly upon the former crowd over the last year or two. Thanks to designers such as Nanushka, A.W.A.K.E and Lemaire, the world has become awash with head-to-toe camel-coloured ensembles and biscuit-toned basics, which were not only embraced in the summer months but have also proliferated this autumn. While I will always have time for the expensive-looking power of earthy hues, I’ve recently experienced a serious case of beige fatigue. This is saying something because I am firmly in the colour-ambivalent camp, and have to force myself to add notes of colour into my wardrobe of ...

My Favourite Beauty Products Contain This Very Specific Super Ingredient

What are the benefits of monoi oil? To this day, native Polynesians use monoi oil to moisturise and soothe the skin. The oil’s fatty acids contain antimicrobial properties. It protects against harmful bacteria that can lead to skin infections, such as acne, cellulitis, and folliculitis. It is also anti-inflammatory and can reduce symptoms from skin conditions, including eczema and dermatitis.  Many use monoi oil in their bathwater, too, as the scent helps to relax the mind. As far as hair is concerned, the properties within monoi oil promote growth and strength to the hair follicles, all the while making each strand softer and shinier. It also reduces split ends and keeps frizz at bay. Needless to say, monoi oil is becoming an increasingly popular ingredient in sh...

Chanel Logo Tights Are Here And We’re Obsessed

In early March, just weeks before the world went into lockdown, Chanel hosted its autumn 2020 runway show. Pairs of models stormed the runway in knee-high boots, strutting in unison while dressed in shades of tweed with bows in their hair.  And while Chanel runways are always much-talked-about events, this season, in particular, one accessory seemed to steal the show. The brand debuted a range of logo-embellished CC tights, which the majority of models were wearing on the day, either in a white or black colourway. And as if by some kind of fashion editor intuition, the moment I saw them I just knew they would become a cult favourite.  Unsurprisingly, six months later the item is already in high demand, appearing on the Instagram feeds of several high-profile i...

We can’t be the only ones who have wanted to try Kim’s skin-toned loungewear and shapewear. For the international debut of the collection, Kardashian West will pose for a series of images photographed by Yeezy collaborator Vanessa Beecroft, while wearing a few of her favourite Skims pieces. Selfridges will then share the photos on its Instagram page, where fans can interpret the imagery however they like and upload their work to the social platform. Kardashian West will choose her favourite photos, which will be shared on the Selfridges website alongside other works by Bee...

5 Jeans-and-Jumper Outfits I Want to Wear All Autumn

Shout out to everyone who hates summer because right now it’s your time to shine. The weather is no longer sweltering and we can get out the best bits of our wardrobes: jeans and jumpers. But with so many combinations to try, which ones are working in 202? Below, I’ve collected a few of my favourite looks that will work with any kind of footwear you choose—whether it’s still warm and you want sandals (probably pushing it now though) or with your favourite pair of ankle boots. But back to the actual outfits. There’s a short-sleeve cardigan–and–blue jeans look that’s ideal for those warmer autumn days, and is great for wearing if you’re WFH. Then there’s a stripy jumper–and–black jeans outfit, which, for someone who still loves Nirvana...

The 5 Skincare Mistakes I’ve Stopped Making Since Being a Beauty Editor

For many people, the entire act of cleansing both starts and finishes with a cotton pad and a bottle of micellar water. In all honesty, that was never me. I always have been the sort of person that uses a wash-off cleanser morning and night. However, it wasn’t until I learned about double-cleansing that I considered the need to go in twice. The truth is, whether you use micellar or a wash, doing things once simply isn’t enough. Micellar water, for instance, is usually full of drying ingredients that should really be washed off the face after they have done their job at removing makeup. A simple face wash, on the other hand, doesn’t always have the hard-working ingredients to totally dissolve the day’s makeup and dirt. For optimum skin health (and to avoid breakouts), cleansing twice i...

French and California Women Agree—These Are the Ultimate Autumn Staples

California style is known for its casual and everyday appeal while French style is revered for its effortless chic vibe. Given that the laid-back approach of the West Coast has become a lot more relevant to all of us lately and that French style is, well, always relevant, we went ahead and cross-referenced the style staples that both groups are wearing as we head into fall—a sartorial Venn diagram, if you will. So whether you need to ideate some autumn outfits or are looking to stock your wardrobe with timeless staples, discover the pieces California and French women agree upon and get inspired each group’s distinctive st...

5 Perfect Christmas Day Outfits for Every Family’s Dress Code

There are some big question marks over Christmas this year, as office parties and group gatherings aren’t on the cards, and restrictions will potentially impact plans for the actual day. December is usually a time for back-to-back parties, but after a difficult year, family and friends will be the most important thing about Christmas for many this year.  It might be difficult to plan anything in 2020, but one thing we can start thinking about is our Christmas Day outfits. Whether you’ll be celebrating with Zoom calls or at home, the below ensembles will make you feel a little special, whatever you have planned. People have very different ideas about what a Christmas Day outfit should look like. Some dress up in silks and sequins, while others have a strict “pj&#...

From Tie-Dye to Florals, These Are the Best Face Masks on the High Street

While we never could have predicted it, in 2020 one of the most important accessories to own is, undeniably, a face mask. The item is a must-have, and whether you’re a celebrity or a style star, it’s something we are all adding to our wardrobe rotations. Masks have become ubiquitous over the last few months and are now mandatory in many places across the UK. While we have all become accustomed to seeing a sea of disposable blue surgical face masks each time we step outside or head to the supermarket, several high street retailers are now making their own iterations, providing a reusable and therefore more sustainable solution.  From Mango to Topshop, brands across the board have stepped in to create their own machine washable cloth face masks, in an array of colo...

In addition to launching the collection, Gap is also investing £10,000 into the CNBA foundation (the Carl Nathaniel Beatson-As...
