Trust Me—These 23 Short Haircuts Require Barely Any Upkeep

One of the most common misconceptions about short hair is how time-consuming the styling and upkeep can be. Turns out it’s a myth as old as time, and we’re here to put an end to it. Just like some long hairstyles can look lifeless when not styled, so too can shorter hair. But opting for a shorter style doesn’t mean you’ll be glued to your stylist’s chair every week. In fact, the right short haircut for you will depend a lot on your texture, the condition of your hair and your lifestyle. For instance, if you have very curly hair, then opting for a sleek bob will require a lot of heat and therefore way more in-salon treatments to repair and restore your strands. “Every head of hair is different, so it’s important to have a thorough consultation with y...

8 Easy-to-Copy Outfit Ideas to Try This Spring

Emerging into the real world this spring has, for all of us, been quite an experience. Sunny pub gardens and reuniting with friends in parks has been heavenly, but remembering how to get dressed for such outings has been— dare we say it— difficult. That’s also been the case for us whose job it is to know how to dress, so don’t feel too bad when you’re drawing a blank in front of your current wardrobe.  We often turn to brands for outfit inspiration at the beginning of each season, but this spring it’s been an essential trick for discovering fresh styling ideas. It’s helped to remind us what goes with what (outside of a two-piece tracksuit), but also of our love of fashion, the joy of experimenting and creating new looks  with the staples we already own. And one of our favourite b...

The 5 Spring Shoe Styles the Olsens Always Rely On

I have a confession to make: I’m borderline obsessed with Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. It’s not to the point where I know their birthday or Starbucks order by heart—more like a healthy, top-line sort of obsession. Being similar ages to the twins, I, quite literally, grew up with them on my television screen, and without an older sister of my own to look up to, I found myself taking cues from the duo. They were cool, funny, intelligent, and stylish, and unlike a real-life sibling scenario, they didn’t get mad when I shamelessly copied them. As a tween, I remember trying to re-create the looks from their latest films in Tammy Girl. Thankfully, I no longer have a penchant for adhesive glitter or high-low dresses with sheer layers—nor, of course, do Mary-Kate and Ashley. ...

Her outlook is about buying less, buying better, and restyling what you already own. This month, she shares the items she’s worn every single summer in recent history. Over to you, Tray! I’m So Glad I Bought This & Other Stories Dress—I’ll Wear It Non-Stop

Not all dresses are born equal in the design studio, which is why our editorial team and network of contributors is always on hand to sift the wheat from the chaff. Recently, assistant editor Elinor Block asked us to place dibs on the best dresses for summer 2021, and I selected a dark chocolate–coloured puff-sleeve open-back dress from & Other Stories among other more expensive options. On my digital travels researching for this request, I stumbled across the midi via the brand’s new-in section, and before I shared my top picks for the story, I became so enamoured with it that I freaked out about other people buying it first, the dress selling out and missing an opportunity to own such a “me” item. I often take days, weeks, months or even yea...

This Is the Most Joyful Spring Capsule Collection We’ve Seen So Far

This isn’t the first time you’ve caught us raving about Label/Mix, and it probably won’t be the last. The collaborative design concept from the teams behind high street giant Next has, since its launch in 2017, been giving us drop after drop of limited edition investment pieces (at affordable prices) from some of the most exciting emerging British designers, as well as household names. What’s not to love, right? And it’s not only us that Label/Mix counts as fans. Influencer and stylist Emma Thatcher, whose wearable and chic wardrobe is always one of our favourites, has just come on board to create ...

Finally, There’s a Vintage Seller Bringing More Size Inclusivity to Second-Hand

Why is there is a lack of size diversity in the vintage market as a whole? I think there’s a general perception that what we would classify as “modern mid-plus size” people didn’t exist before now, whereas that’s absolutely not the case. The reality is though that for whatever reason it really can be harder to find quality mid-plus pieces. Natural fibres versus polyester. Tailored versus shapeless. Statement versus every day. Pieces in larger sizes were often custom or homemade, and I read recently that often they’ve been handed down through families and worn beyond repair. This is my job and even I find it nearly impossible to source certain pieces. I wish it wasn’t the case as there’s nothing I love more than Space Age cockta...

These 25 Pink Dresses Are Guaranteed to Make You Smile

The overarching theme for the spring/summer 2021 collections is a desire for our clothes to be fun again and the styling is centred around an overwhelming feeling of optimism. Designers largely used colour to convey this mood, whether that was with a rainbow print or sunset hue. The most-used exuberant colour was bright pink, with the likes of Molly Goddard, Chloé and Cecilie Bahnsen creating magical dresses in punchy pinks. Whether weddings go ahead or not over the next few months, Net-a-Porter has seriously invested into occasionwear, buying over 3000 joyful dresses for S/S 21, and has over 10,000 dress options for the season. Scrolling through the new-in section, it seems like a high percentage of these are in bright pink, as many of the most spectacular dresses of 2021 h...

I Thought I Hated Flip-Flops, But These Looks Have Changed My Mind

Okay, “hate” is a strong word. Basically, I’d never have considered wearing flip-flops anywhere but the beach, but even there, they wouldn’t serve as my favourite footwear option. There’s always espadrilles, after all. That said, I like to think I’m open-minded, so when I started to spot influencers wearing flip-flops on home soil, I reserved my judgement. Flip-flops? In Britain? In April? I, too, was surprised at the number of flip-flops that started to take over my feed—I have The Row to thank for that. But given that they’re largely being worn indoors and accompanied by jeans, my interest was piqued. Never before had I considered wearing flip-flops with anything other than a sarong. This was a game-changer, and now, I’m a flip-flop convert...

How to Wear Jeans According to This 66-Year-Old Former Vogue Editor

If you love fashion and in particular French fashion, then you’ll know who Carine Roitfeld is. Esteemed editor of Vogue Paris for a decade, she then went on to found CR her eponymous fashion magazine, and continues to be held up as a bastion of classic Parisian styling. She is often photographed during fashion weeks wearing her signature form-fitting outfits—usually a pencil skirt with a matching jacket or in a chic tux with a hint of a lacy camisole underneath. Jeans, if we’re being honest, haven’t been a regular feature of her wardrobe repertoire.  But this week, the 66-year-old editrix surprised us all by getting on a pair of straight-leg blue jeans, and even she knew it would come as a surprise to some, stating on her Instagram post revealing ...

Orville Peck’s Signature Mask Has Been Turned Into a Collectible Ring

Love says the collaboration with Peck came about organically, explaining on her site that the two first met about ten years ago at a house show in North Carolina. The designer gifted Peck a couple pieces of jewelry, and he loved them so much, he designed to work with her on an original piece that could combine both of their styles and personalities. The Orville Peck x Pamela Love collection features two vintage-styled rings that use Peck’s trademark cowboy hat as inspiration for the main band, and his fringe mask as the overlay. The rings also hark back to motifs found in American folklore, something both artists credit as inspiration for their work. The gender-neutral design makes it easy to wear the rings on any finger. Though the rings were first introduced over a year a...
