As production nears, Ford has now recalculated the F-150 Lightning‘s specs, revealing increased horsepower and payload capacities. Originally announced back in May 2021, Ford gave the F-150 Lightning a power output of 426 horsepower for its standard battery pack while the extended-range model came in at 563 horsepower. Interestingly enough, with the automaker now gearing up for production after cutting pre-orders, Ford has reassessed the electric pickup’s abilities, announcing that instead, the former model will be able to push out 452 horsepower while the latter will reach a whopping 580 horsepower. While torque remains at 775 pound-feet, it nonetheless represents a pretty impressive jump up in power, especially when you compare it to other V8 turbocharged models in Ford’...
Land Rover is ushering in the 30 years of the Defender with a new limited-edition run of the car. The Defender 30th Anniversary Edition pays homage to the iconic Defender 110, the first Defender vehicle sold in North America, with the integration of cutting-edge technology. The vehicle contains ebony leather seats and is outfitted with glossy white steel wheels. Its rear tailgate boasts a heritage-inspired exterior badge. Maintaining the car’s all-terrain capabilities, the 30th Anniversary Edition packs in rugged accessories such as an expedition roof rack, front and rear mud flaps, rubber mats, a deploya...
Formula E has officially revealed its all-new Gen3 race car for the first time ahead of this weekend’s Monaco E-Prix. Arriving in a distinct aerodynamic form inspired by fighter jets, Formula’s Gen3 is the fastest, lightest, and most powerful electric racecar in existence, and the most efficient racing car ever with more than 40% of the energy used within a race produced by regenerative braking. Its electric motors deliver 470 BHP with a top speed of over 322 kph (200 mph) and its 600kW ultra-high-speed charging capabilities are almost double the power of the most advanced commercial chargers in the world, allowing for speedy power-ups during the race. Throughout the course of the season, performance upgrades will be delivered via software updates to the car’s advanced op...
Brabus is not a byword for subtlety, but its new take on the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 might be one of its most outrageously customized and opulent builds thus far. Giving the GLS 600 the Brabus 900 treatment, this already-impressive luxury German SUV now pumps out 900 HP, 1,250 Nm of torque (although this is electronically limited to 1,050 Nm), and it will hit 60 MPH in 4.2 seconds before going onto a whopping 199 MPH Vmax. Such figures are often reserved for sportscars, not uber-luxe SUVs. Regardless, Brabus has made the unthinkable possible, and it doesn’t stop with just a power upgrade. On the exterior, you’ll find an exposed carbon exterior concept, 24-inch Monoblock M “Platinum Edition” forged wheels with a signature “Shadow Gray” finish as well as ...
The Porsche 911 (997) Sport Classic is one of the most sought-after modern 911s, driving fans into disarray every time one of the rare examples comes up for sale today — but now, the German sports car brand has done one better, welcoming the new-generation Porsche 911 Sport Classic. Based on the 992-gen 911 Turbo, the new Sport Classic follows on from the coveted 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition and like that model, it too is made under the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur division, here limited to just 1,250 examples worldwide. Speaking on the project, Alexander Fabig, Vice President of Individualization and Classic, said: “The Heritage Design models represent the most emotionally driven concepts of the Porsche product strategy. This unique approach sees the Style Porsche desi...
Rivian has just announced that the Ocean Coast trim for both its R1T and R1S models are now being delayed. In an email obtained by Electrek, the electric car maker wrote that “the light wood in Ocean Coast is more challenging to produce,” and that so it is currently focusing on just producing vehicles with the Black Mountain and Forest Edge interior trims. “Building in few build combinations reduces complexity with our suppliers and in the plant and allows us to build a greater number of vehicles,” the company continued. “This updated approach also means we’ll see Adventure Package vehicles rolling off the line alongside Launch Edition vehicles over the next few months.” Those who ordered a vehicle with the Ocean Coast trim will now have to wait until at...
Mercedes-AMG has now unveiled the 2023 C43 sedan. The highlight of the vehicle is its powertrain, sharing the same hand-built 2.0-liter inline-four as the SL43 Roadster that’s capable of pushing out 402 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, translating to a 0-60 mph time of a mere 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 165 mph. Its exceptional performance comes from the NANOSLIDE technology derived from the company’s very own Formula 1 cars, which allow for extremely low friction between the engine’s pistons and bore liner to increase both efficiency and wear-resistance. On top of this, the longitudinally-mounted engine features a turbocharger that’s equipped with an electric motor along with the usual exhaust-gas plumbing, meaning that the shaft can spin before exhaust ...
The Toyota GR Supra is a car of many petrolhead’s dreams, but when it first launched in 2019, fans were rightly disappointed that the car only came with a BMW-supplied automatic gearbox. Now, for 2023, Toyota‘s Gazoo Racing division answers driver’s prayers by adding in a six-speed manual gearbox, complementing it with a spherical shift knob that’s short, easy to grab, and use when chucking your prized possession around. In addition to the six-speed, which is only available on RZ-spec Supras, Toyota adds an iMT system to rev-match the driver’s clutch and shifting, making sporty driving that bit easier as you shift up and down through the gears. Inside, a manual transmission sound will be emitted from the JBL Premium Sound System, while more upgrades have appea...
DRIVERS is a series highlighting influential individuals in the HYPEBEAST sphere and their passion towards all things automotive. The approach is simple: what is car culture to you, and why do you have a passion for it? Each contributor is given a chance to shine light on their personal vehicle or vehicles, and asked to remark on how they are driving culture forward, both metaphorically and literally. For our latest DRIVERS, we caught a quick moment with Sydney Sweeney, super star actress off of HBO’s mega hit drama Euphoria. It’s not often we get to highlight a Hollywood A-lister, and “we’ve never, ever been happier.” For those who’ve been living under a rock for the last few years, Sydney Sweeney plays Cassie Howard, Euphoria‘s hopeless romantic-...

At the driver’s seat is a two-spoke steering wheel with instrumentation, including a 120-mph speedom...
There are many sports car brands in the world, but Germany’s Wiesmann is one that flies under the radar — even if its daringly divisive design language wants you to notice it. Now, the car company is set to return with its all-new “Project Thunderball,” a car it calls the “world’s first all-electric, rear-wheel-drive, convertible roadster.” Like all Wiesmann’s, “Project Thunderball” is hand-built in Germany. Unlike its previous cars, this new model is an EV, and has been designed under the ownership of the entrepreneur Roheen Berry who is taking the brand into new realms. Speaking on the car, Berry said: “Project Thunderball is a remarkable moment in time for the Wiesmann brand, and the culmination of a dream of years of des...
Chevrolet has now confirmed long-held rumors that its iconic Corvette is finally going electric. The automaker took to Twitter to announce the news along with a short video of what appears to be an electric Corvette prototype speeding through the snow. While details remain scarce at the moment, Chevrolet says that an “electrified” version (meaning hybrid) could come as early as 2023 while a fully-electric version will follow later. The move probably won’t come as a surprise to those following the automotive industry closely. General Motors has long announced plans to only sell electric vehicles by 2035, so it’s only natural for the Corvette to transition into a more sustainable powertrain eventually, just like the new Hummer. Other big industry players in the U.S. s...
