If you’re a Final Fantasy fan, today’s State of Play is for you. Today, Square Enix has revealed a bit more information about Final Fantasy XVI. In the new trailer, we get our first glimpse of combat, which features high-speed real-time action that looks reminiscent of what Cloud and the gang get up to in Final Fantasy VII Remake. The trailer also features more of the mysterious Eikons, powerful monsters that resemble the summons of Final Fantasies of yore and seem to reside in human controllers called Dominants. It seems like befriending or fighting these Dominants will be at the heart of the game’s story. Final Fantasy XVI was revealed in 2020 with a bloody trailer that was unlike anything the usually bright and hopeful series usually displays. The much-beloved Naoki Yoshida is the game’...

The last time we saw Stray, the open-world cyberpunk game where you play as a cat, it had been delayed. But now we have a new release date, and it’s soon: the game is coming out on July 19th. (It was originally slated to launch in early 2022.) It’ll be coming to the PS4 and PS5, as well as PC. And if you’re not sure what all of the fuss is about, there’s a brand-new trailer above showcasing all the futuristic feline action. It looks equal parts adorable and stressful, and I swear that if anything happens to that little kitty, I will absolutely lose it. I mean, come on…

Sony’s latest State of Play showcase gave a glimpse into what games will support the launch of the PlayStation VR2 (PSVR2) headset. Neither a price or release date has been shared yet for the headset, but at least we know what kind of games we can look forward to. For what it’s worth, Sony committed to launching the headset with 20 “major” games, so it’s still got a bit of work to do to fill the gaps. We’ve covered the main highlights below, including trailers. Guerilla Games showed off some combat and traversal gameplay for its upcoming PSVR2 exclusive game, Horizon Call of the Mountain. Like the console game, there seems to be a heck of a lot of climbing, and the visuals look stunning. I’m most intrigued by the satisfying-looking bow combat, and I’m curious how the game manages tricky VR...

It’s once again time for Apple to hold its annual Worldwide Developers Conference, or WWDC, where it shows off the latest versions of its operating systems for iPhones, Macs, watches, tablets, and TVs. But what new features will Apple’s new software bring, and is the company planning any big surprises? Hardware, perhaps, or even — dare I say it — a VR headset? We’ve combed through the rumors to get an idea of what to expect when Apple’s keynote premieres on June 6th at 1PM ET / 10AM PT, and here’s what we found: iOS and iPadOS 16 could get a new coat of paint and better notifications Noted Apple rumor reporter Mark Gurman has predicted that iOS 16 will come with “fresh Apple apps,” though it’s a little unclear whether that means new apps from Apple or a new look for existing apps. Gurman a...
Wardens, Inquisitors, Champions, it’s time to break out the whisks. Today, in a surprise announcement, BioWare revealed the name of the next installment in the Dragon Age series: Dragon Age: Dreadwolf. The reveal pretty clearly establishes what’s been known for a while now; that Solas, one of the companions in Dragon Age: Inquisition, will be the main antagonist of the new game. If you did not play Dragon Age: Inquisition and have no idea who Solas is or why whenever his name is mentioned people like me start reaching for frying pans and spatulas, let me explain. Spoilers for Dragon Age: Inquisition follow: Solas was one of the least interesting of companions in Dragon Age: Inquisition — or the least interesting initially. He was a mage — but not as cool as the necromancer Dorian or the en...
Tumblr users who don’t want a specific post to be reblogged by others will now have the option to turn off the reblog setting. In a blog post, Tumblr says it will start rolling out reblog controls today on web and iOS, with Android to come soon. When composing a post, users can choose between two reblog options. One option allows anyone on the platform to reblog the post to their own blog. A new option will let users disable reblogs on that post, making it so nobody can reblog it. In the post, Tumblr says that the feature comes at the request of users who say controlling reblog settings would create a sense of safety. Even if a user blocks someone else after the post is made, the blocked user still would not be able to reblog the post, the company says. “This change gives you control over ...
BMW has redesigned its X1 compact SUV and is introducing an all-electric version of it. The new iX1 xDrive30 is the company’s latest EV option built on its fifth-generation eDrive platform, the same one that the new BMW i4 is built on. Unfortunately, BMW spokesperson Jay Hanson tells The Verge there are currently no plans to offer the iX1 in the US. The German automaker will be building the new X1s in Regensburg, where gasoline, diesel, plug-in hybrid, hybrid, and all-electric versions of the vehicle will be built on one assembly line. BMW is calling the refreshed X1 vehicles compact SAVs, or “Sports Activity Vehicles,” in an effort to better differentiate the entry-level compacts from the rest of the X line. Noticeable changes in the refreshed X1 design include a larger and more angular g...
Image sourced from Pixabay. Mobile applications for connected cars provide various features to make life easier for motorists, but they can also be a source of risk. Kaspersky experts have analysed 69 popular third-party mobile applications designed to control connected cars and defined the main threats drivers may face while using them. They found out that more than half (58%) of these applications use the vehicle owners’ credentials without asking for their consent. On top of this, one in five of the applications have no contact information, which makes it impossible to report a problem. These and other findings are published in the new Kaspersky Connected Apps report. Connected automotive applications provide a wide range of functions to make drivers’ lives easier. Jackson Palmer questioned Musk’s coding skills over a past Python script designed to automatically report crypto bots Musk, in response, termed Palmer’s script worse than a 12-year-old’s code Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Dogecoin co-founder Jackson Palmer have in the past pitted against each other, and they are back at it again. This time the conversation is over coding skills. Palmer’s interview with Crikey Jackson Palmer, who co-founded popular meme coin Doge alongside Billy Markus, recently spoke to Australian news outlet Crikey, in which he went on an offensive against Elon Musk. Palmer ran down back the memory lane and recalled a time when he created a script to automatically report crypto bots and scams on Twitter, which he says he ran by the Twitter team, Musk, and other crypto influence...
