President Muhammadu Buhari has said that he want the person that will succeed him as Nigeria President in 2023 will his footsteps.

The president made the prayer as he visit Borno state yesterday to commission some projects done by the state government.

Buhari in his address commend his administration over fight on terrorism.

He said:

Today I paid an official visit to Borno State, to commission a number of infrastructure projects by the State Government, in addition to a noteworthy philanthropic intervention by Alhaji Muhammadu Indimi.

I also addressed troops of Operation Hadin Kai at the Air Force Base in Maiduguri, and paid a courtesy call on the Shehu of Borno, Dr. Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El Kanemi.

Governor Zulum and the Shehu of Borno both happily noted that the people of Borno State are enjoying the gradual return of peace to their State, which has enabled many to return to their homes, farms and communities.

We owe a debt of gratitude to our gallant and determined military and other security agencies for the progress seen so far in the region.

Let me also specially commend Prof. Zulum for the remarkable work he had done in the last two years. Earlier this year I was also in Borno to commission developmental projects. I am very very pleased to see the massive rebuilding and restoration going on in Borno.

We have indeed made great gains in the fight against terrorism, and created the environment for peace and development to return, but we cannot afford to rest on our oars at this time. Instead we will ramp up our anti-insurgency campaign until terrorism is fully a thing of the past in Nigeria.

On our three target areas — security, economy and the fight against corruption — I constantly urge all Nigerians to look at where we were when we came in and where we are now in relation to the time and resources available to us.

I swore by the Constitution, and I will leave in 17 months. For the period remaining in our administration, we will keep doing our best. I pray that the person that will take over from us will also follow the targets of securing the country and building the economy.
