We’re only midway through summer, but already one thing is clear: 2026 belongs to the flip-flop. The unassuming, laid-back and casual sandal has been reimagined as one of the hottest footwear trends going this season. I’m in the market for a new pair to brighten my warm-weather rotation of pretty linen dresses and silky satin trousers, and a quick scroll through my social media feeds brought me back to a flip-flop I know and love: the Reformation Jessie Sandal in black and red.
Fashion person Brianna Niebla wears the Reformation Jessie Sandal in red and black(£148).
The midnight-blue colourway is already a firm fixture in my summer capsule, but I couldn’t help but fall for Reformation’s seasonal lobster-red-and-black iteration too. Dopamine-inducing reds have dominated colour trends for the past few years, but the addition of black lends a moodier, more refined edge, one which feels fresher and infinitely cooler. In fact, when looking at the style, there’s an unmistakable air of The Row energy, but not in a dupe-y way (although the brand does make a similar pair), but in that elusive, hard-to-define It-factor way that gives every one of its pieces insider appeal.
With the fashion set currently leaning into more divisive shoe trends with a little more confidence, and with maximalism continuing to shape the season’s mood, it’s little surprise that the red-and-black Jessie flip-flops have quickly become a fan favourite. Adding a playful pop to sleek satin co-ords, and a directional edge to Coco Schiffer‘s World Cup-coded combination (pictured above), these shoes prove that they’re more than versatile in the styling department.
