Lamborghini Confirms Electric Urus SUV is Arriving in 2029

Lamborghini‘s ever-popular Urus SUV will be arriving as an electric vehicle in 2029. The news is confirmed by the CEO himself, as reported by Road and Track.

CEO Stephan Winkelmann spoke to journalists at a preview of the company’s Sant’Agata event, confirming that a new generation of the high-performance SUV will be coming a year after the brand officially launches its first all-electric vehicle in 2028. He said, “In ‘28 and ‘29 we will have our first two BEVs. We will have a fourth model, so today we have three models. It will be the first one to be completely a BEV car in 2028. And then in 2029 there will be the new Urus.” With its first two EVs, the two cars will drive down the brand’s overall emissions by 80% versus today’s output.

Currently, the Italian supercar company is planning to hybridize its Urus model by 2024. Winkelmann said, “This year and next year we are going to hybridize all of our lineups. The first one is the positioning car, so the real Lamborghini, the tip of the spear of our lineup.” He adds in regards to the Urus, “And then we’ll model the Urus as a hybrid in 2024. And at the end of ‘24 the brand-new Huracán will come to market.” Just last year, Lamborghini announced that the Urus has made history as its best-selling model. It remains to be seen if the car will be on top following the EV changes.
