Manchester United manager: Mauricio Pochettino ready to take over at Old Trafford now

Manchester United manager: Mauricio Pochettino ready to take over at Old Trafford now

Manchester United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after a 4-1 defeat against Watford at the weekend.

The Red Devils have been linked with a host of names in recent weeks and the Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino is thought to be one of the candidates on their wish list.

According to Daily Mail, the Argentine manager is keen on returning to the Premier League and he is prepared to take over at Old Trafford now instead of waiting until the end of the season.

Apparently, Pochettino is unhappy in Paris especially because his family is still based in London and he is keen on a return to England.

Furthermore, the report adds that the manager is frustrated having handled big egos like Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar over the last few months.

It remains to be seen whether the Red Devils are prepared to appoint the former Tottenham Hotspur manager this season.

Apparently, the likes of Brendan Rodgers, Zinedine Zidane and Ralf Rangnick are also on the shortlist.

Currently, the Red Devils have appointed former midfielder Michael Carrick as the interim manager and he is expected to take charge of Manchester United against Villarreal in the Champions League this week.

The Red Devils have had a mediocre start to the season so far and they will need a quality manager who can transform their performances and help them challenge for trophies.

Pochettino did an outstanding job at Tottenham and he helped them challenge for the title and the Champions League trophy. The Argentine achieved all that with limited resources at Tottenham and he could definitely do a better job at Manchester United given their financial muscle.

In addition to that, his arrival will bring an exciting brand of football to Old Trafford. The Argentine prefers a high pressing attacking style of play.

The Red Devils have a talented squad at their disposal and bringing in a quality manager could make a world of difference. Carrick is inexperienced as a manager and it remains to be seen whether the club hierarchy are prepared to take another managerial gamble with him now.
