“The music industry was greatly affected by COVID, as individuals lost their sense of security and identity, experienced tremendous loss and grief, and struggled to cope with the loss of control over their own destiny,” said Laura Hutfless, FlyteVu co-founder and president of the Onsite Foundation board of directors in a statement. “We are so thankful that MusiCares has stepped up to help us meet this overwhelming need with financial resources.”

The workshop will provide tools, resources and educational sessions to guide individuals back to a place of wellness.

“As the leading music charity, MusiCares is dedicated to supporting music people in times of crisis and beyond,” says Laura Segura, MusiCares executive director. “We’re excited to partner with The Onsite Foundation and create these important tools as part of our continued efforts to help music people recover and come back stronger after the pandemic.”

An October survey launched by MusiCares found that 51 percent of respondents had low to very low levels of confidence that they would be able to afford basic living expenses during the pandemic, while 62 percent said they experienced moderately high to very high levels of financial stress on a daily basis. Mental health was also severely affected with 26 percent experiencing moderate to severe levels of depression, 34.9 percent seeking counseling for mental issues and 53.5 percent of the respondents saying they could not afford to seek counseling.

MusiCares, the Recording Academy’s philanthropic partner, provides aid to the music community through mental health and addiction recovery services, financial assistance for health services, and support for basic living expense during periods of hardship.

The Onsite Foundation provides trauma counseling and emotional health education.

Admissions criteria includes participants must be over 18, agree to 15 days of sobriety from alcohol and drugs before the program, agree to no smoking on campus during the workshop and have no current suicidal plan or attempt and no self harm.
