Nissan and New Balance Have Created a Driveable Sneaker

Nissan has just unveiled a new collaborative car with New Balance — and it’s a driveable sneaker.

Over recent times, New Balance has often tapped into its Japanese market with new footwear iterations and exclusive colorways, however, its latest step into the land of Japan sees the footwear specialist put its classic 327 silhouette on wheels.

The new car comes as part of a new Japanese Nissan campaign and NB has teamed up with the automotive company to create a conceptual and electric SUV car under the name of the Nissan Kicks “327 Edition.” Complemented with an intricately-applied wrap, the car features the 327’s suede upper, while it also includes everything seen on the original sneaker, from textile stitching to white laces.

Surprisingly, the car’s makeover doesn’t compromise the original shape of the vehicle, even with a giant collar, tongue, and eyestay on the roof rack. Furthermore, a black grille is also included that mimics the way the 327’s black sole extends onto the shoe’s toe box.

Unfortunately, Nissan will not be officially selling the car, however, it will be on display at the Aeon Mall in Tokyo. Additionally, a social media contest will soon begin on the official Nissan Instagram page where people can enter to win a pair of New Balance 327 kicks.

You can take a closer look at the New Balance x Nissan collaboration above and in other automotive news, Porsche is celebrating 75 years of the 356 Roadster.
